Proverbe Chinois. 6 INTRODUCTION I. De l’importance du choix du site de ponte chez les insectes. a. Le choix du site de ponte est il soumis à la sélection naturelle ? En 1859, Charles Darwin publie « L’origine des espèces » où il développe la théorie de l’évolution des espèces par sélection naturelle. Cet ouvrage est devenu la pierre angulaire des recherches en biologie évolutive. Il est désormais admis que pour être soumis à la sélection naturelle un caractère qui présente des variations interindividuelles doit répondre à deux conditions (Sterns & Hoekstra 2000): 1. être héritable 2. être associé à une différence de succès reproductif. Le choix du site de ponte répond-il à ces deux exigences ? 1. Existe-il une hérédité concernant les préférences pour le choix du site de ponte ? Si les relations entre les gènes et le comportement sont mal connues, la composante génétique dans le comportement animal est certaine. Toutefois, les exemples de cas où un gène unique correspond à un comportement sont rarissimes (Rothenbuhler 1964a, 1964b). Dans la majorité des cas, c’est un ensemble de gènes qui va influencer un comportement. Or, comme le soulignent Aron & Passera (2000), il n’est pas nécessaire que les comportements soient directement déterminés par des gènes pour être soumis à la sélection naturelle, il suffit que ces caractères soient influencés par des différences d’ordre génétique. Barker & Starmer (1999) par exemple ont montré que la préférence pour le choix du site de ponte chez la drosophile Drosphila buzzatii Patterson & Wheeler était héritable, or cette décision est soumise à de nombreux stimulus. 7 2. The harlequin ladybird is a global invader that causes the decline of native ladybirds in some countries. Therefore, it is advisable to monitor the ladybird fauna in regions recently occupied by this species. We analyzed the dynamics of the fauna at the main sea resort of Russia over a period of 120 years to determine the following: (1) how the ladybird biodiversity changed during the intensive landscape transformation; (2) what alien species introduced for pest control have occurred to date; and (3) what the impact is of the harlequin ladybird on the ladybird fauna. We examined specimens collected by us and 54 other collectors including specimens from old museum collections and reconstructed the history of the biodiversity like a picture from puzzle pieces. Surprisingly, landscape transformation did not cause a decrease but rather an increase in ladybird biodiversity; most of the species recorded before 1930 have occurred to date, and 23 other species have spread to the region.

Of eight ladybird species recorded, the most numerous were the marshy habitat special- ists, i.e. Calvia quindecimguttata (Fabricius, 1777) and Sospita vigintiguttata (Linnaeus, 1758), which are considered to be rare in Europe. We also encountered quite high numbers of an invasive Asiatic species, Harmonia axyridis (Pallas, 1773). Larval diets of ladybirds inhabiting alders, as determined using a method of faeces analysis, mostly consisted of aphids. Gaertner) is a host plant for a variety of hemipterans, such as aphids of the genus Pterocallis, a froghoppers Aphrophora alni (Fallen, 1805) or a psyllid Psylla alni (Linnaeus, 1758) (Soika & ŁabanowSki, 2003; Tomków, 1977). Very little is known about the guilds of enemies of these hemipterans, especially in natural habitats of marshy forests. Museomics in combination with morphological analysis is useful for systematic studies. Eriopis is a genus of ladybird beetles (Coccinellidae) that lives in South America. This study presents Eriopis patagonia, a new species of ladybird beetle discovered with two old specimens collected in Patagonia at least 100 years ago and deposited in a natural history collection. DNA was extracted from the specimens by a non-destructive method, allowing the specimens to be preserved again. The total gDNA was sequenced using Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies. The genetic information obtained allows us to reconstruct and describe its mitochondrial genome and examine its phylogenetic position. Abstract: Natural history collections house an important source of genetic data from yet unexplored biological diversity. Molecular data from museum specimens remain underexploited, which is mainly due to the degradation of DNA from specimens over time. However, Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology can now be used to sequence “old” specimens. Indeed, many of these specimens are unique samples of nomenclatural types and can be crucial for resolving systematic or biogeographic scientific questions.

We assessed the changes in abundance and community composi- tion of native species of coccinellids (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) on deciduous trees that occurred between 1970s and 2010s, in the Czech Republic. 2. As the composition of adult communities varies with host plant and sea- son, coccinellids were sampled in May–June from Acer, Betula and Tilia trees using a standardised sweeping method. This was done before (1976–1986) and after (2011–2014) the arrival of Harmonia axyridis in 2006, with interim samples from a period immediately before it arrived in the Czech Republic (2002–2006). 3. Twenty-one native species were identified in the total sample of 2674 adults. The abundance of Adalia bipunctata, Coccinella quinquepunctata and Propylea quatuordecimpunctata decreased over the whole period sampled. Decli- nes in abundance of these species were already evident prior to the arrival of H. axyridis. Recent declines in Adalia decempunctata and Calvia quatuordecimgut- tata followed the arrival H. axyridis. Their abundance was increasing prior to the arrival of H.
