After 7:45 a.m., we find replacements as needed, in order to provide time to practice. CHAPEL NOTES As this year draws to a close, I wanted to take a few moments to thank all of the ‘behind the scenes’ angels who help make chapel happen each day. It is definitely the efforts of our community. Mr. Clint Bar- rick has been so kind in sharing his musical skill with us each morning. Mrs. Lindy Long has inspired us in her facilitation of our Wednesday services. Mr. Buck Maples and Mr. Fidel Castrejon handle chapel logistics each day with a giving heart. Dr. Sarah Herrington has been wonderful in coordinating our Friday Special Music, ans she and Mrs. Candice Cameron have been gracious to pinch hit with accompaniment when needed. Mrs. Becky Parker has been a good help in serving as our Kindergarten shepherd this spring. A big thank you to Mrs. Christina Barritt for serving as our altar guild this spring. Thank you also to Dr. Mike Bennett, the Rev. Pat Russell, Dr. Glenn Davis, Ms. Heather Hernandez, Mrs. Annie Cox, Mrs. Ali Johnson, Mrs. Karen Gretzler, Mrs. Christina Barritt, and the Rev. Nancy Igo for serving as either substitute leaders or Eucharistic Ministers. Thank you to the Reverends Pat Russell, Jim Haney, David Perdue, Jennifer Holder, Nancy Igo and the Rt. Reverend Scott Mayer for leading our worship on Eucharistic days. Finally, a most heartfelt thank you to my daily chapel team: Katherine Thomas, Campbell Howe, Ellis Fox, Abby Harris, Avery Thompson, and Lauren Brashear. The morning “Basketball Boys” have been won- derful in getting chairs out and flags back in their spots. In particular, I would like to mention Evan Dawson, Spencer Johnson, Sami Sharif, Kalvy Thompson, Kareem Khater, Andy Banister, Rodney Thomas, and Nick Blevins for their consistent and dedicated service. Peace to you all this summer. ~Chaplain Paige

PATRIOT PANTRY Happy Spring All Saints Patriots! A new school-wide initiative is being established this month, in hopes that it can go live next fall. Patriot Pantry is a meal giving program that will enable families the oppor- tunity to help out other Patriot families during illness, new babies, deaths, and times of need. Our hope and plan is that this will be a way to bring our “All Saints Families” closer together, while we send a little love to each other. I am sure most of you have received a meal or been part of a meal system at your work, church, or within another group. We would like to compile a list of families that would be willing to have their name on an email list. We will then send out an email when a family needs meals and you can sign up to take them food, drinks, desserts, if one is lead to do so. Families in need will most of the time be brought to Chaplain Paige’s attention, and she and I will work together to get a plan set up, or if you know of someone you can email the Patriot Pantry email address as well. This program has been on my heart to start for a few years now. Chris and I want to do something to give back to the families that were so caring and loving to us through a very hard couple of years, while the girls went through open heart surgeries. We love All Saints and are so proud to be Patriots. Please send an email to [email protected] if you would like to be a part of this email group. By signing up, you are in no way obligated to provide a meal, this will only notify you of an opportunity. Thanks for your consideration! ~Angie Lane 3 Don’t forget 2015-201620 Lunch Times PS: 12-12:30 in PLC to use the hashtag agg Pre-K: 11:25-11:50 #ASESPride K/P1: 11:30-12:00 de 1st & 2nd Grade: 11:45-12:15 ono all of your 2nd Grade: 11:45-12:15 3rd Grade: 12:50-1:15 Patriot 4th Grade:12:50-1:15 Posts! TECHNICALLY SPEAKING with Dr. Penny Carpenter Recently I had the opportunity to accompany the fourth grade class on a field trip to Buffalo Springs Lake. This is an activity they do every year to culminate a unit about the Lewis and Clark expedition. TThehe stu- dents experience their own expedition trekking the Llano Estacado AAudubonudubon Society’s Nature Trail which begins near the spillway. The students stopped oftenften to add sketches, obser- vations, and leaf rubbings into their journals. We also carried a few Global Positioning System receivers (GPSr) to assist us with navigation. While Lewis and Clark would seek out a cache for stored supplies, we navigated to a couple of geocaches for fun using the GPSr units. (A geocache is a hidden container left by the geocaching com- munity for others to find by navigating to a latitude/longitude coordinate using a GPSr unit). We also used the GPSr units to record our track data: location, elevation, speed and distance. Back at school the data was downloaded and displayed in Google Earth.

Students can graph and analyze the data. For example, students may compare their speed to the slope of the trail; we walked faster at the bottom where the trail had little change in elevation. Integrating GPSr technology into this social studies unit brought opportunities for experiential learning and application of real-world math and outdoor science skills.

In addition to the GPSr data collected we took photographs too. In my smartphone’s settings, I turned on Location Services so photographs would be geocoded, or digitally stamped with location information. Back at school a phone app, Snap-to-Map, and ArcGIS Online was used to create a StoryMap for the students. Please enjoy (larger screen recommended): http://arcg.is/1s7g5WG

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE DUKE TIPS PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS Each year Seventh grade students who have scored at or above the 95th percentile on select sub-tests of the ERB test during their Sixth grade year are invited to participate in the Duke University Talent Identification Program (TIP). These students, who have demonstrated a high level of achievement, are given the opportu- nity during December and January of their Seventh grade year to participate in either the SAT or the ACT exams, the scores of which are then used to assess their potential for higher levels of learning. This year Ash Bumstead, Belle Burks, Elizabeth Eppright, Kareem Khater, George Lipe, Noura Malki, Andrew McClure, Yash Mittal, Vincent Paone, Sawyer Robertson, Charlie Robinson, Sami Sharif, Graham St. Clair, Joelle Staggs, and Sebastian Whitaker participated in this Duke TIP program.
