  • Seven Unveils Content Plans for 2019
SEVEN UNVEILS CONTENT PLANS FOR 2019 Slate includes new Bevan Lee drama and two supersized reality hits Geraldine Hakewill, Joel Jackson and Catherine McClements headline Miss Fisher spin-off MKR’s 10th anniversary season to launch the year “Top Gear meets food” in new Gordon Ramsay series New overseas dramas feature screen heavyweights Martin Clunes, Sheridan Smith, Kelsey Grammer and more (Sydney, Friday October 26): The Seven Network today unveiled its content plans for 2019. Four new local dramas, including the next offering from creator Bevan Lee; two supersized reality hits; a female spinoff to one of the year’s most heart-warming hits and the landmark 10th season of one of Australia’s biggest shows are just some of the programs set to take Seven into its 13th consecutive year of leadership. Commenting, Seven’s Director of Network Programming Angus Ross said: “After a close win last year, we promised to up our game in 2018, and the team has delivered in spades. We’ve broken records and dominated the ratings throughout the year. In fact, in every month we have never dropped below a 39% share, while our competitors have never been above 39%. Our worst is still better than their best. “What’s particularly pleasing is that this success is down to the strength and depth of our programming across the board. From 6am to midnight, we have the strongest spine of ratings winners, bar none. And with the AFL and Cricket locked up until 2022, Seven can guarantee those mass audiences, and certainty for our advertisers, for years to come.” NEW TO SEVEN IN 2019 BETWEEN TWO WORLDS From Australia’s most prolific creator/writer Bevan Lee (Packed to the Rafters, A Place To Call Home, All Saints, Winners & Losers, Always Greener) comes an intense, high concept contemporary drama series about two disparate and disconnected worlds, thrown together by death and a sacrifice in one and the chance for new life in the other.

  • Two of Us: Shane Withington and Suzette Meade
Upfront I was a neurotic mess by the time the Currawong campaign was won, which makes me wary for Suzette. I always end our calls say- ing, “Look after yourself and don’t burn out.” But she seems to be able to handle the pressure. We get on really well, except she doesn’t answer the phone when I want her to, and when I suggest letting off flares, she doesn’t reply, so it doesn’t happen. But I’ll mention it again, and if it still doesn’t happen, I’ll let flares off without her knowing. UZETTE: I was on maternity leave with Smy second child in 2015 when the NSW government development proposal for 6500 apartments and a retail complex in the Cumberland Hospital precinct reared its head. I went to the North Parramatta Residents Action Group’s first meeting, and was nominated to head the action against the development. Shane was the MC for a Crown land summit at NSW Parliament House. I knew of Shane from when he played nurse Brendan Jones on A Country Practice. Summing up, he said, “We all need to get involved with the Female Factory, because that is too precious to lose.” Afterwards, I thanked him for highlighting our plight in Parramatta. He gave me his num- ber, and said to ring if he could help. I contacted Shane several times, but he was always filming. • Strange Interlude
Media Release April 2012 Belvoir presents Strange Interlude Written by SIMON STONE after EUGENE O’NEILL Director SIMON STONE Set Designer ROBERT COUSINS Costume Designer MEL PAGE Lighting Designer DAMIEN COOPER Composer & Sound Designer STEFAN GREGORY With AKOS ARMONT NICHOLAS BAKOPOULIS-COOKE EMILY BARCLAY MITCHELL BUTEL CALLUM McMANIS KRIS McQUADE ELOISE MIGNON ANTHONY PHELAN TOBY SCHMITZ TOBY TRUSLOVE BELVOIR ST THEATRE | UPSTAIRS 5 MAY – 17 JUNE An experimental play from the 1920s may not be the most obvious choice for inclusion in Belvoir’s strikingly contemporary season, but in the hands of Simon Stone theatre-goers will know to expect a radical interpretation of Eugene O’Neill’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play. In the vein of Stone’s The Wild Duck, a sell-out at both Belvoir and Melbourne’s Malthouse Theatre, Strange Interlude will be completely rewritten. Strange Interlude is one of the few modern plays to use soliloquy interwoven with the dialogue, revealing the characters’ inner thoughts; this technique will be maintained in the rewrite. Twenty-year-old Nina Leeds (Emily Barclay) has lost the love of her life in the war. Overcome with grief, she quits university, falls out with her father and moves away from home. What follows is an epic and compelling narrative that spans 25 years in Nina’s life, but the story is compressed into a series of heightened, life altering moments. The significance of each of these moments is revealed as the page-turning story unravels. The cast assembled for this production is truly stellar, with the luminous Emily Barclay as Nina and Mitchell Butel, Toby Schmitz and Toby Truslove as three men in her life, each vying for her attention and affection in his own way.
