Howdy neighbors! I just wanted to get some information out to everyone and let them know that during this time the meeting for the VIP Program (neighborhood patrol program) has been postponed for the foreseeable future. I was informed this week by our NPO (neighborhood police officer). This is unfortunate but certainly understanding given the circumstances we are in. It difficult to anticipate when this program will again become available, but I will certainly keep everyone posted. Until then, be watchful. We are currently in an interesting time with regards to the Coronavirus. There have been and will be drastic measures put into place in order to slow the spread of the virus. As a result, this could influence our economy which in turn may have a negative effect on our fellow neighbors and citizens. Unfortunately, this may result in behavior that is desperate. So, be observant during these times, be vigilant, and call the police if you are in danger—and be neighborly as we will all be affected by these current events. Stay healthy! —Joseph

I-345 Feasibility Study Underway

The Department of Transportation has commenced a feasibility study on the future of Interstate 345 from I-30 to Woodall Rodgers Freeway. They are currently in the first step of their four-step project delivery approach. The “Define” step is when several studies and analyses take place to understand the need and define the project at hand. At this time, stakeholder and community input is requested in order to help facilitate the direction of the project. This is where WE can make a difference and where WE have a voice. At the end of this article, please visit the survey link to participate in our neighborhood survey. Above are the four possible scenarios that CityMAP has developed, but they are still open for input. “No Build” would result in nothing being constructed and I-345 and streets grid would remain in their current configuration. “Below Grade Freeway” would construct the freeway below grade, similar to that of Woodall Rodgers. “Reconstruct and Elevate with Ramp Modifications” would keep the freeway elevated, but ramp modifications would be made to free up potential surplus Right Of Way to allow for developmental opportunities. “Removal” would modify the interstate interchanges and the city street grid. These changes would provide surface street connections between the termination of I-45 and and US 75 in order to carry the traffic displaced from I-45 and I-345. The Texas Department of Transportation is still open to possible scenarios they haven’t yet thought of. If you would like to learn more, please visit www.345study.com.

3626 Word Street With spring comes trees blossoming and flowers blooming, 3626 Word Street has a splendid showing of both! Purple and white irises encircle the mailbox and guide your steps up the sidewalk, while the backdrop of trees slowly share their purple and green blooms. Freshly planted pansies fill the flower beds with sprinkles of orange which compliment the evergreens lining the perimeter. This colorful yard shines this season!
