Douro D.O.C RED WINE 2016 The “Faisão” (pheasant) is native to Asia, but was brought to Portugal by merchants in the middle ages. It is an exquisite bird with very bright colored feathers and unique beauty that gives inspiration to our wines. THE REGION The Douro region is the oldest demarcated region in the world having already more than 250 years. Is located in the northeast of Portugal, extending from the valley of the Douro River and its tributaries and is divided into three sub-regions – Baixo Corgo, Cima Corgo and Douro Superior. This region, rich in micro-climates, as a result of its rugged terrain, is characterized by the production of wines with a complexity and richness unmatched. Douro’s famed landscape is due to three distinct ways of farming: in benches, landings and in height.
