Sia da protagonista per non dire da autore di “colonne sonore”. Il più saccheggiato, insieme a Bach e Mozart (seguono Wagner, Verdi, Puccini, Chopin). La vita sullo schermo di Ludwig van Beethoven è una lunga sinfonia, andante con moto, variazioni sul tema, leit motiv la sordità. I primi accordi già ai tempi del muto: un Der martyrer seines herzens del 1918, una Beethoven’s moonlight Sonata del 1920 e una vita di Beethoven (Das leben des Beethoven) del 1927 dell’austriaco Hans Otto, con Fritz Kortner che per primo incarna, e traduce plasticamente, il temperamento tipico del personaggio, esuberante e ribelle, tutto eccessi e catapulte facciali, il leone indomabile e misantropo immortalato nel celeberrimo busto dallo scultore Bourdelle. Poi c’è Abel Gance. Il maestro francese, pioniere delle teorie e delle tecniche del montaggio, fa le prove nel 1918 (La dixième symphonie) e nel 1936 lancia Un grand amour de Beethoven, genio tormentato, offuscato dalla sordità, un difetto che consente all’interprete (Harry Baur) di esibire un bel campionario di smorfie boccacce e versacci, e offre al regista, sempre in cerca di sperimentazioni formali, il pretesto di operare assordanti manipolazioni e distorsioni sonore, così da farne quasi un Robert Schumann, lui sì aggredito da continue allucinazioni auditive, sibili, fischi, tintinnii e scampanellii (bellissimo nel ruolo di Karl, il nipote scapestrato, esordisce il 16enne Jean-Louis Barrault).     Addio a Lucia Bosè, diva d’altri tempi L’epidemia mondiale di Coronavirus, ci porta via una delle dive più rappresentative e più leggendarie del nostro glorioso cinema, ovvero Lucia Bose’. Lei, che era stata scoperta, giovanissima, dal maestro Luchino Visconti, quando andando a comprare le paste nella pasticceria dove lavorava come commessa, le disse “Lei ha un viso fotogenico, farà del cinema”. Lucia aveva sì e no 16 anni: era la Milano dell’immediato dopoguerra, e proveniva da una famiglia semplice dove si parlava esclusivamente il dialetto milanese e nessuno aveva grilli per il capo. La vita di Lucia cambia quando un giovane ignoto fotografo, invia una sua foto alla rivista “L’Europeo” senza nemmeno dirglielo. La rivista ha lanciato un concorso, Miss Sorriso 1947. Da quella foto parte però l’offerta di andare alla seconda edizione di Miss Italia, che allora è un evento per il quale il Paese si ferma. Lucia va a Stresa con la mamma Francesca, nel settembre del ’47, e contro ogni pronostico (suo, in primis) vince. E’ un podio pazzesco: seconda si classifica Gianna Maria Canale, terza Gina Lollobrigida, mentre una quarta concorrente – tale Eleonora Rossi Drago – viene squalificata perché già sposata.
