Lincoln Trail Boys Conference The Lincoln Trail Conference (LTC) was established in 1976 with eight charter members including Cambridge, Winola, and Alwood from the Corn Belt Conference; Alexis, Galva and ROVA from the Little 6 Conference; and Wethersfield and Toulon-LaFayette from the Blackhawk Conference. Since then, you would need a map, a history book, a photographic memory, and two Advil to decipher the changes the next 40 seasons. The LTC currently encompasses eleven counties and has 11 or 12 members, depending on how you look at coops. The largest school is Mercer County in Aledo with 435 students and the smallest is Annawan with 125. Mercer County, West Central, Monmouth United, and ROWVA are Class 2A. All others are 1A Even though State Tournament appearances are few, the conference teams claim a great boys’ basketball history. Hall of Famer Bob Meredith’s ROVA team placed 2nd in 1976. ROWVA (the addition of the village of Wataga from Galesburg) now enjoys a coop with Williamsfield, who’s longtime coach and Hall of Famer Bob Anderson’s Bombers earned an Elite Eight berth in 1997. During Jim Yauornik’s sixteen year tenure, the Princeville Princes won 267 games and made the Elite Eight in 1985. And the Annawan Braves placed 4th for Coach Ryan Brown in 2009. Galva boasts a Father – Son coaching tandem with Gene Hulick guiding the Wildcats from 1979-80 until 1987-88. After playing for his father, Brad Hulick led the school from 1993-94 until 2001-02. Kewanne Wethersfield has had great success throughout the years beginning with Wally Keller’s “Flying Geese” winning 250 games and 6 regional titles before current coach Jeff Parsons – an IBCA All-Star Game coach in 2014 – took the helm with his 200+ victories and 3 regional crowns. One consolidation includes 1990 regional winner Wyoming with Toulan- LaFayette, who earned titles in 1987 and 1988, to form Stark County, who were regional winners in 1994, 2001, and 2008. Currently, ROWVA coops with Williamsfield and AlWood coops with Cambridge.
