BULLETIN D ’ INFORMATION DE L ’ ASSOCIATION STAR 17 MAI 2003– JUIN 2003 N° 16 A LA RENCONTRE de POSEIDON SPA REGATTA 2003 : MEDEMBLICK (NL) Rendez-vous important pour la suite de la sai- Dans ce numéro : son. Cette année l’épreuve de la semaine olympique hollandaise de Medemblick a été MEDEMBLICK 1 choisie comme épreuve qualificative pour la préolympique d’Athènes au mois août. Ce sont 9 man- ches qui ont permis au champion du monde bri- tannique Percy/ Mitchel de remporter la semaine olympique hollandaise. Les anglo- saxons ont comme souvent été particulièrement constants et brillants remportant deux manches : 1 6 4 4 5 1 8 29 DNF (7 manches comptabilisées). Les brésiliens Grael / Ferrei- ra assurent une bonne deuxième place au général. Coté équipe de France, après un début de saison marqué par une prise de marque de l’équi- page Presti/Saliou, la troisième place de la Spa Regatta revient fort logiquement à l’équi- L’équipage ROHART/ADDE en tête page Xavier Rohart / Yannick Adde . Suite à une première journée très peu convaincante ils ont su dominé l’équipage Presti / Saliou afin de ravir la place française pour la Grèce. L’équipage mi charentais (yannick Adde) a remporté la troisième manche et se classa deux fois deuxième. Sans quelques choix et départs quelconque cet équipage aurait pu inquiéter les Britanniques : 20 16 1 2 4 2 22 31 6. Bien que légèrement en retrait lors de cette édi- tion 2003 (6e), l’équipage suédois Lööf/ Eks- trom reprend la première place au classement PRESTI/ SALIOU Isaf du Star après que xavier et yannick oc- cupèrent la tête . Pour les deux autres équipages Made In France les événements se sont déroulés moins facile- ROHART/ ADDE aux affaires ment. Presti / Saliou après de bon début pour la qualification pour la préolympique (bien que cette régate ne soit pas inclus dans leur programme !!!), n’ont pas réellement inquiété Yan- nick et Xavier ils terminent à la 10e place : 3 10 28 16 3 10 32 8 17 . Pour les espoirs Sevestre/ Bérenguier, les régates ont été moyennes. Leurs résultats sont LOOF/ EKSTROM en replis régulièrement au milieu de la flotte : 30 32 35 24 35 25 27 5 23. Sur cette régate ils ne ré- alisèrent pas leur « coup » habituel. Ils sont 27 e. Le prochain lieu de confrontation se tiendra fin juin dans les eaux de la mer baltique pour la semaine olympique allemande à Kiel. STAR 17 CHAMPIONNAT DE PRINTEMPS (H) 32 rue CHAUDRIER Long voyage pour rejoindre le lac hongrois de 17000 LA ROCHELLE Balaton pour le championnat de printemps d’Eu- FRANCE rope 2003. L’équipage Rohart/ Adde est absent www.star17.org pour cause de bateau non disponible. Pour leur part l’équi- page espoir Sevestre / Bérenguier termine à une bonne place dans le top ten. Ils sont réguliers dans les dix premiers sauf 49e à la deuxième manche COLLINS/MANSFIELD (non comptabilisée heureusement). La Rochelle avec Paris pour les JO en France en 2012. A suivre! Super. Les jours suivants Xavier et Yannick se permettent le luxe d’être dans le top ten et devant les meilleurs. Le résultat est exceptionnel : sur le podium ! à la troisième place. Du jamais vu en star français. L’équipe de France est qualifiée pour les jeux d’Athènes. Ils seront sauf problème nos représen- tants. Pour le titre, ce sont les fantastiques anglais Iain Percy, champion Olympique en Finn à Sydney et membre du défi GBR challenge (coupe Louis Vuitton) et Steve Mit- chell. Loof le suédois (champion 2001 à Medemblik) et Percy/Mitchell WC 2002 Xavier confirment la présence des anciens finnistes sur les podiums du Star. Après de bons débuts, Paulo et Vincent (38e) ont encore Xavier et Yannick : fait preuve de bons coups mais aussi de mauvais choix.

John MacCausland and Sean Delaney came 1st District through with the win and Aaron Serinis took it on the chin Sept. 7-8 Bedford Pitcher, CLIS the hardest and finished 20th. A very long day. Sept. 14-15 Nathan Hale, HB Sept. 21-22 Nutmegs, Mid Sunday dawned much like Saturday, very little wind with high humidity and temperatures. We towed out to the bay 2nd District but there was no wind and not much prospect of any. The Sept. 14-15 SSA Fall Series committee towed us back in to the river where there was a Sept. 28-29 Fall Windup, TAYC much better chance of wind inside. As the day went on the Oct. 19-20 Michelob Cup, WRSC wind slowly increased to 7 to 9 knots. With this wind the committee was able to get three races in. th 5 District John MacCausland and Sean Delaney sailed very solid to Au. 30-Sp. 1 Labor Day Pitcher Regatta, SDYC finish out with a 2–1–1 to win the District Championship. Report on the winter IGC / CMC meeting 1 A report was given concerning measurement issues. John Split Fleet and the MOCR 1-2 Koopman has recently made a presentation to ISAF regarding Message from the International Secretary 2 measurement of Star boats. All aspects of our current 2009 Star Worlds 2 standards were part of the presentation including John's 2011 Centennial Regatta 2 monitoring and measuring the hull density. As we understand Turul Trophy 2-3 it, both John and Star measurement are highly regarded by Regatta Reports ISAF, which allows the Class to retain our present standards Biscayne Trophy and the MOCR 3-5 and control of measurements of our boats and sails. Our 23rd Primo Cup 6 regatta measurement procedure continues to be measurement Masters 6-7 of boat, sails, spars, check of safety gear, crew weight, entry SCYA Midwinters 8 form and to find any non-compliance features. Bacardi Cup 8-10 The 2007 annual meeting has been rescheduled to take place Regatta Schedule 12 during the European championships in Italy, in early September. REPORT ON THE WINTER The meeting was adjourned at 2 PM.
