Attachment 2: Consumer stories orginally submitted May-June 2016. Name City State Text daniel and joy New Rochelle NY PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING! Brad Shoreline WA A majority of the calls that I receive on my cell phone are from fake numbers, made by robo-dialers. These entities can do this with absolute impunity, because the phone providers do nothing to stop it. The public phone system should not be open to Internet-originated calls, unless they can be tagged. If any Internet-originated calls get put on the public network, they should tagged accordingly (by the phone company) and our devices should be allowed to block them. Most mobile phones have apps that bypass the public phone system anyway. The phone companies can stream HD movies to my mobile. Why can't they block these fraudulent calls? victoria barre VT cell phones do not need the hassle of robocalls. it is expensive for the owners. Pat Gold River CA I oppose all robocalls on my cell phone (and landline phone). I pay for the cell service for my personal use and don't want to receive unwanted marketing or debt collection phone calls. Susan Shoreline WA End robocallers today! Was getting 12 calls a day for over a year and I have zero Federal debt! The question is why do we have the FCC or the government at all? Clearly anyone can do what ever they what when ever they want to. Elaine Peekskill NY Please end Robocalls to cell phones! Barbara Redondo Beach CA Please no robocalls on any of our phones. Thank you, B Tim Encinitas CA They are annoying, dangerous and a waste of time answering the call. They are sometimes threating. Please stop them. Jane Klein TX Please stop robo calls! They are a nuisance and often done by 'bad guys' trying to scam innocent people. They wake me up in the morning and even during the night. Julie Layton UT Please, PLEASE do the right thing and pay attention to the "little gal/guy" here! That's what you're about, isn't it? People? I know it's NOT about making money above all else...or is it? It's pretty obvious to anyone who's paying attention that the right thing to do is to place individual people above the constant race to see who can get more $$$ fastest. Please do what you know is right; otherwise...well, all us "little unimportant people" can do is wish a bad night's sleep on you wrestling with your conscience. SINCERELY, Julie Chamberlain Suzanne San Mateo CA It is most annoying to be interrupted by an unsolicited phone call. I use my cell sparingly and do not appreciate receiving robocalls! Thank you for taking action! Shane Orlando FL Enough already, No More Robocalls. I am on the do not call registry and I work from my home office. It is very disrupting to my work and personal like to be constantly bombarded with these calls even though I am on the do not call list. Please end this. Roy Keller TX I personally receive between five and ten robocalls every month on my cell phone. Most claim to be from my "credit card account," but some are from other sales organizations. My number has been on the Do Not Call registry for years. I've personally reported a number of these calls to the FCC and received a reply thanking me for my report and telling me that the FCC doesn't act on individual complaints. I'm glad that CU is making mine more than an individual complaint. Charles Naples FL Please take action to stop robocalls to cell phones. It costs me money every time I receive a call on my cell phone and I do not like being charged for marketing pitches. If you must allow robocalls for specific purposes such as debt collection those calls should be limited to a maximum of three per month and should only be made to the debtor, not friends and/or family of the debtor. Any allowed robocalls should be required to clearly identify the caller. Jan Belmont MA I am submitting comments regarding the FCC Commission’s proposed rules allowing robocalls to be made to cell phones without consent. These unwanted calls and texts have used up precious minutes for those who are on limited usage plans. Because of the significant harm caused by these robocalls from debt collectors I am very supportive of the consumer protections proposed by the Commission in this rulemaking. As calls will be permitted without the consumer’s consent, these protections are very important. In particular, I support the following proposed protections: 1. Calls will only be permitted to be made to the debtors themselves, not to family and friends; 2. The protections of the rule will apply to texts as well as to calls to cell phones; 3. Callers will be required to honor a request for the calls to stop; 4. Callers will be required to notify consumers of their right to request that calls stop; 5. The calls will only be permitted to be made after 8 a.m. and before9 p.m.; 6. Calls will only be made to collect debts currently owed to or guaranteed by the United States; Jan Belmont (cont) 7. Only one wrong number call, such as to a reassigned numbers, will be allowed. 8. Each initiated call counts as one call. Additionally, the number of calls or texts permitted to be made without consent should be limited to 3 calls per servicer or collector. Please also consider placing the consumer protections in the body of the regulation itself. Unwanted robocalls are the bane of my existence. On my landline, 75% of the calls are from unauthorized robocallers and I am not even behind on any bill payments. I can’t even imagine what would happen if telemarketers were authorized to call my cellphone and use up my precious minutes as I have a pay-as-you go plan. It would really infuriate me to receive such calls without my consent. I find it very hypocritical and am extremely disappointed and angry that our President and Congress are attempting to circumvent the strong protections that the FCC has already enacted. We should be increasing consumer protections from unwanted robocalls in all communications, not loosening the protections. Thank you. gary manitou springs CO Please stop robocalls. Barbara San Diego CA My cell phone is strictly for use of my emergencies, my business matters I must take care of on my brakes at work, and for friends and family whom need to get a hold of me immediately. I have a limited amount of minutes to use each month that I pay for and do not want robocalls taking up my minutes that I must pay for. I also have a home land line phone for business and other calls. I do not have caller ID, so must answer every call that comes to my home land line, My land line has been on the "Do Not Call List" for 3 years now and everyday I get up to 20 calls per day where I have to stop what I am doing to answer the phone for unwanted robocall solicitation. I have an 88 year old father who trips and almost kills himself trying to get to the phone in time thinking it may be his doctors calling him, instead, to often it's a robocaller. The elderly do not need this harassment on a home line or a cell phone. We all should not be subjected to this harassment and abuse. A debt collection agency should be limited to only 3 robocalls per month and only to those who are directly delinquent on their debt, not to friends and family, and no text messages allowed at all. Technology through the phone companies should be available to stop solicitation robocalls to a persons phone if they do not want solicitation. Other than debt collectors, robocalls should only be allowed for government business - federal, state, county, city, or organizations - American Lung Association, World Wildlife Fund, United States Humane Society, or such, and not for companies to sell you their goods and services - roofing, painting, windows, remodeling. The business world did just fine without robocalls some years back, and today we can do just fine without them too. Richard East Chatham NY End unsolicited robocalls!! Simon Woodside CA Please stop robocalls Edward Wilburton OK I receive robo calls from numbers that are not the correct number from which the call is being made. I receive them with my own number showing on the caller id. Joshua Durham NC I get up to 6 robocalls a day on my cell phone. I pay for those calls, not the company calling me. That's moved way beyond just being a nuisance. It's already illegal for debt collectors to robocall cell phones and I'd like to see that continue. I'd like to see robocalls done away with entirely or fines raised to the point that it really hurts when they're used. Please protect us from this crap. Thank you, Joshua Danielle Keaau HI Robocalls should not be allowed, even for debt collection. They need to have live people calling. If they are allowed, then they need to state at the very beginning of the call of our right to stop receiving calls and the procedure to do that. No more than 3 calls per month should be allowed, and only to the person that is responsible for the debt, not relatives or friends.
