• In partnership with Lincoln Park Zoo, PMC, and IMLS, the TAG completed PVAs for 5 Antelope species in 2016 Ungulate TAG Species Profiles
• Thank you to the 29 program leaders who have completed a profile for their species! • And thanks to the Ungulate TAG Marketing team who continues to make the profiles possible AZA Sustainability Database
• AZA is developing new tools for population sustainability with funding from IMLS grant • Quantitative info from Breeding and Transfer Plans, Population Viability Analyses, etc., with qualitative info on husbandry, exhibit design, etc. • Monday – 10:45 am • Don Moore and Lauren Wilson We need your spaces, please!
• Only one of the Antelope & Giraffe TAG’s programs is sustainable using AZA’s definitions (Retic/Roth Giraffe Green SSP)
• Sustainability not possible without space and resources
• Decline in overall future space for antelope (and actually ALL ungulates) is greatly concerning
• Additional effort to promote the TAG’s important conservation programs is needed
• 16 candidate species • Representatives from all 6 of the TAG’s subgroups and all levels of management (Green/Yellow/Red/ISF) • Hirola, addra gazelle, giraffe (group), addax, slender- horned gazelle, scimitar- horned oryx, mountain bongo, okapi, mountain nyala, Arabian oryx, Speke’s gazelle, duikers (group), peninsular pronghorn, Nile lechwe, bontebok, and fringe- eared oryx
