The theme of the is all about YOUR NOTES ______and a Kingdom!

OT depicts a time before the King (Jesus) has come. The NT records the time after the King has come the first time and before He comes the second time. The Bible is full of prophetic types/foreshadowing/pictures and as the Lord reveals Himself through each book we study, may your love for and reliance upon Him be enhanced. Jesus is all over the scriptures!

What’s in your lap? The ______! We open our to learn and we open our lives to love. Don’t be a ______! Faithful Forever!

The Hosea Picture (Where are we?)

Hosea 1:1 identifies the author of the book as the Prophet Hosea. :1-2; 12 • The spirit of whoredom has led God’s people astray.

The book covers some 25 years and can be divided into four parts: I. ’s Unfaithfulness Pictured (1–3) - Adulterous wife/Faithful Husband II. Israel’s Sins Proclaimed (4–7) III. Israel’s Judgment Pronounced (8–10) IV. Israel’s Restoration Promised (11–14) - Adulterous Nation/Faithful God

Hosea 1:2-3 • God commands Hosea to marry . 2 When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of whoredom, for the land com- mits great whoredom by forsaking the Lord.” 3 So he went and took Gomer, the daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son.

The Hosea Purpose (What’s the BIG idea?)

Theme: God’s ______towards His unfaithful people. Don’t be a ______! Faithful Forever!

Let us feel the broken heart of God. When we reject God’s love and betray His trust we grieve the heart of our creator! YOUR NOTES Hosea 1:3-9 • God dedicates some kids names for His purposes. :7 • Quit chasing the uncatchable! Return to the joy of your salvation! Hosea 2:16-23 • A day of sowing and mercy is coming for God’s people.

Hosea was commanded to ______, forgive and to love.

Hosea 3:1-2 • Hosea had to buy his own wife back, bring her home, and assure her of his forgiveness and love.

The Hosea Plan (How do I apply this?)

John 3:17 • Jesus was sent by the Father for the salvation of men! For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Matthew 20:28 • Jesus paid the price! His name means “Deliverer; God saves.” (Hebrew Yeshua/Joshua) …the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Romans 5:8 • Jesus died as a sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin! 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Exodus 34:14-16 • Our God is a God of a covenant jealousy!

1 John 2:15–17 • Christians are commanded NOT TO commit spiritual adultery!

God’s ______love is more powerful than any sin.

1 John 1:8-9 • I WILL respond with repentance and faith.

Hosea 14:1-2 • I WILL return to the Lord with conviction and confession. 1 Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity. 2 Take with you words and return to the Lord; say to him, “Take away all iniquity; accept what is good, and we will pay with bulls the vows of our lips.

Hosea 14:8-9 • Hosea ends with a two-way conclusion.

Ephraim = “double ash-heap: I shall be doubly fruitful.” Don’t be a ______! Faithful Forever!
