    Prot. N. 494/12/L BLESSED MARIA TRONCATTI, virgin She was born at Corteno Golgi (Brescia, Italy) on February 16, 1883. She was fascinated by the missionary ideal from adolescence and this sustained her in the development of her religious vocation. She made her religious profession in the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in 1908, and served in Italy for some years. In 1922 she left for Ecuador, from which, by her own free choice, she never returned. In the forest she evangelised through her care for the sick, and she was the «madrecita buena» («good little mother») for all, both the native Shuar and the colonists. She proclaimed and witnessed the love of the Father to all, along with the protection of Mary Help of Christians. She died at Sucúa on August 25, 1969 as a result of the crash of the small airplane on which she was travelling. The loss of sense of God among the people especially the youth, the rapid growth of the secularization and growing number of non believers, who still have not heard the Gospel Message provide the context for Pope Benedict XVI to declare the “Year of Faith” beginning on October 11, 2012 until November 24, 2013 as a mark of celebrating 50 years of the second Vatican Council’s Decree on the Church’s Mission Ad Gentes. The Church cannot simply ignore the constant changes that are taking place. It becomes the signs of the times in order to make God’s Word relevant in the contemporary world. Hence the Pope gave a clarion call to the whole universal Church for a renewed urgency on new evangelization. It basically calls for renewal of faith and regaining the faith of the apostles which is handed on by our Lord Jesus Christ to all of us.

I would also like to convey to you the greetings from our Sisters of other Indian Provinces and from those whom I met in Jerusalem. I have just returned from the Holy Land after my Spiritual Retreat. As the disciple of Emmaus I can’t but speak about the beautiful and unique experiences I had in the land of Jesus. Hence, I bring to you the wishes and blessings of Jesus. Deep within me I feel that He wants me to tell you that He loves us and wants us to love Him and to love one another as He loves us. All around the Holy Land: The Holy Sepulchre, Calvary, Bethlehem, Nazareth and everything speaks volumes of the tremendous love of God manifested to us in a tangible way in His beloved Son Jesus. The sight of thousands of Pilgrims who come from all over the world to the Holy Land to profess their faith and show their love for Christ is something very touching, inspiring and thought provoking. Rev. Fr. Mario Queriento from Venice – Italy, our Preacher helped us understand and reflect in-depth the History of Salvation realized and fulfilled in Christ Jesus through the Paschal Mystery.     BLESSED: MARIA TRONCATTI (1883-1969) Beatification: 24 November 2012 Young heart open to consecrated life Maria Troncatti was born in Cortegno Golgi (Brescia) on February 16, 1883. She grew up happy and hardworking in her numerous family, dividing her time between the farm and caring for her little brothers and sisters, in the warm and loving atmosphere created by her exemplary parents. She regularly attended catechism in her parish, where she developed a deep Christian spirit and opened her heart to the values of a religious vocation. First profession at Nizza Monferrato In obedience to her parish priest, however, she waited till she reached adulthood before asking to be admitted to the Institute of the Salesian Sisters. She made her first profession in 1908 at Nizza Monferrato. During the First World War (1915-18) Sr. Maria took a course in health care in Varazze and worked as a Red Cross nurse in the military hospital. This experience was to prove very valuable in the course of her long missionary life in the Amazon forests of Ecuador. Missionary in Ecuador She left for Ecuador in 1922 and was sent to work among the Shuar people where, together with two other Sisters, she began the difficult work of evangelization. They faced dangers of every kind, including those caused by the beasts of the forest and by fast flowing rivers that had to be waded through or crossed on fragile "bridges" made from creepers or on the shoulders of the Indians.     PROVINCIAL CIRCULAR 01 August 2018 DEAR CONFRERES, Cordial greetings from Don Bosco Provincial House Tiruchy! Month of August is full of celebrations, jubilations and a month of thanksgiving. In this month we have the province foundation day. On 15th August we celebrate the independence of our country and the feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Mother. On 16th August we celebrate the birthday of our Father and founder St. John Bosco. This month isfull of celebrations to thank the Lord for various blessings. It is a meaningfultradition and a devotional practice that all our communities dedicate one full month from 16th July to 15thAugust to our Blessed Mother, fondly naming it ‘Marian Month.’ This is not just a practice or custom but a reminder to all of us, the great devotion that St. John Bosco had on our Blessed mother,dedicating his entire life to her and attributing everything to her with a repeated saying, ‘She did it all.’ We honour our Blessed mother in this month and this is an invitation for all of us to be devoted to her and spread her devotion. We need to express our love and devotion to her by faithfully following the simple but meaningful Salesian traditions like ‘the three Hail Mary, 24th Devotion, petitions to our mother, daily rosary, decorating her statue etc. These are gentle and pure signs, expressing our love and our filial trustonher, which would always pave way for our own and for the salvation of the young. Let us entrust the whole province to her, especially at this moment of the chapter preparations that she be with us along the way with her maternal presence and protection.
