NEATH (THE VALE OF) : BEING THE PARISHES OF GLYNCORRWG AND LLANTWIT, WITH THE HAMLETS OF , CLYNE, AND . THE" Vale of Neath" is justly celebrated for its beautiful scenery and waterfalls. The river ~ eath (from which the valley takes its name), flows through this picturesque district, in its passage from the romantic region amidst the Brecknock Hills in which it has its rise. The higher part of the valley, with m!J.ch of the most beautiful scenrry, is in Brecknockshire. The river receives a number of mountain tribu taries, all of which, descending rapidly through deep ravines, make falls of considerable elevation and great beauty, One of the principal is llielincourt, which, from its elevation and the peculiar form of the rocks, has a considerable degree of grandeur. It is a cascade formed by the river Clydach, which is precipitated about 80 feet. There is much beautiful scenery in the vicinity, and the seats of Nash Vaughan Edwards Vaughan, Esq., at Rheola, and the :Misses Williams, at Ynyslas, are very picturesque. The Vale of Neat!-,., Railway from Swansea t j l\ferthyr, intersects the valley, and affords great convenience for the tourist, having stations at Glyn-Neath, Resolven, and Aberdt1lais. 1'he Neath Canal also runs through a portion of the valley.
