Bihar's Darbhanga Airport to Connect with Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru Airports Authority of India Corporate Communications Directorate Bihar’s Darbhanga Airport to connect with Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru soon New Delhi, 09th September, 20: Airports Authority of India, in its continuous endeavor to link under-served and un-served airports through RCS routes, is developing the civil enclave at Darbhanga for commencement of civil flight operations for Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru under Regional Connectivity Scheme. The Darbhanga airport belongs to the IAF and land was handed over to AAI for development of the interim civil enclave which includes construction of Pre-fab terminal building along with associated facilities car park, connecting road network, strengthening of runway and dispersal area to cater to the intended aircraft and construction of a link taxi track at the cost of Rs. 92 Crore. Construction of the Interim Terminal Building of the airport with an area of 1400 sqm.is completed. The terminal building with six check –in counters will be able to handle 100 passengers in peak hours with all required passenger amenities. The work for strengthening of runway for accommodating Boeing 737-800 type of aircraft, construction of new Apron with connecting taxiway and connecting road is in full swing and soon airport will be ready for civil operations. The Foundation for the Interim Civil Enclave at Darbhanga was laid by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar in the presence of Hon’ble Minister of Civil Aviation and Hon’ble Minister of State, Civil Aviation on 24th December, 2018. Darbhanga, in north Bihar is the fifth largest city in Bihar and is considered as the cultural capital of Bihar with its rich musical, folk art and literary traditions of centuries. It is also known as “Heart of the Mithilanchal” and is abound with fertile land and greenery. With the operationalization of Darbhanga Airport, the long pending demand of air connectivity of the people of the region will be fulfilled. After reviewing the groundwork of Darbhanga airport in Bihar, he informed that the flight operations will begin in the first week of November, before the auspicious festival of Chhath Puja. He further said that this a boon for 22 districts of North Bihar. Civil Aviation Minister reviewed the progress and construction status of the Darbanga airport along with Shri Gopal Jee Thakur, MP, Darbhanga, Shri Ashok Yadav, MP, Madhubani, Shri Pradeep Singh Kharola, Secretary, MoCA Shri Arvind Singh, Chairman AAI and other officials. Expressing satisfaction over the progress of work of Darbhanga airport, Shri Puri said that most of the work at the airport is almost complete. He added that arrival and departure halls, check-in facility, conveyor belt etc have already been installed and remaining work will be completed before end October. Spicejet has already been awarded this route under RCS-UDAN. Shri Puri emphasized that the Prime Minister's vision of 'Hawai chappal se hawai jahaz tak' continues to transform lives. He said that while the work on ground is in full swing in Darbhanga, other processes are also going ahead. Flight calibration by Spicejet took place today while the Minister was at the Darbhanga Airport. After reviewing the status of Deoghar airport in Jharkhand, Shri Puri said that the work at the Deogarh airport is at an advanced stage and will be completed on schedule.

Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation today. The Ceremony took place in the august presence of Shri. Jayant Sinha, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Shri Ram Kripal Yadav, Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Shri Sushil Kumar Modi, Deputy Chief Minister, Bihar and other esteemed dignitaries. Darbhanga Airport belongs to the Indian Air Force with runway length of 9000ft., suitable for operation of Air Bus -321 type of aircraft. IAF is providing required space to AAI at Darbhanga, for setting up an interim civil terminal inside the Air Force Station premises, on short term lease, till the completion of permanent civil Enclave by AAI on the land to be provided by the State Government. The upcoming New Terminal building of the civil enclave (15000sq ft) will be a no-frill Pre- fabricated/Pre-engineered structure with all essential passenger facilities. The terminal building will have six check –in counters with peak hour handling capacity of 200 passengers. Total estimated cost of the project is Rs. 92 Crores. Under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), under-served and unserved airports are being linked through RCS routes to provide air connectivity to the citizens of the country. Greetings of peace and good health on the new year! It has been a privilege to have worked for each one of you and EPACK has so far been scaling new heights. W e s t a r t e d o u t 3 0 y e a r s b a c k a s a manufacturer of EPS thermocol products. Our beginning was humble but dreams were big. Our guiding philosophy at EPACK has been to venture into new territories, getting out of the comfort zone. This is one value which has singularly propelled EPACK to become a brand to reckon with. From manufacturers of EPS thermocol to being one of the fastest growing infrastructure companies, we have been taking new strides over three decades. Among several new projects done in 2018, EPACK has successfully bagged contract for construction of four new airports under the UDAN scheme of the Govt. of India. We now provide turnkey solution for construction of airport terminal buildings with prefabrication. The growth and proliferation of prefabricated construction is now happening, with the government having realised its benefits over traditional construction. It is indeed a pleasure to be able to contribute towards the infrastructural development of the country.
