In the 1960s, the passion of two automotive engineers, Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher knew no bounds. They dreamt of transforming regular cars into performance powerhouses. Employed at the Development Department at Daimler-Benz, they would spend all of their spare time honing their passion and perfecting engines at Aufrecht’s house in Großaspach. Their exceptional work on the 300 SE engine made their friend, a Mercedes-Benz racecar driver, win ten races and made the duo a popular force on the racetrack. Following the new success, they moved to an old mill in Burgstall to continue pursuing their passion and founded AMG in 1967 (A for Aufrecht, M for Melcher and G for Großaspach). AMG opens its wings in India. For over 10 years, the AMG brand in the country has reigned over the hearts of performance car enthusiasts and those who are passionate about driving performance. The launch of SLS AMG in 2010 took the country by storm as India was among the first right-hand-drive markets to launch the Gullwing within the first few weeks of its production. Tiedotusvälineille 1.6.2017 Julkaistavissa heti AMG-mallistossa jo yli 50 urheilullista automallia Mercedes-AMG: 50 vuotta huippuluokan suorituskykyä AMG:n perustivat Hans-Werner Aufrecht ja Erhard Melcher 50 vuotta sitten Virallinen yhteistyö Mercedes-Benzin kanssa käynnistyi 1990 Mercedes-AMG:stä tuli Daimler AG:n tytäryhtiö 2005 Nykyinen Mercedes-AMG on Daimlerin urheiluauto-osaamisen keihäänkärki Yhtiö työllistää noin 1500 työntekijää kolmella paikkakunnalla Saksassa Moottorit kootaan käsityönä one man, one engine –periaatteella Vuosi 2016 oli Mercedes-AMG:lle ennätyksellinen lähes 100 000 myydyllä autolla AMG:n tarina on suoraan kuin Hollywoodin menestyselokuvan käsikirjoituksesta: kaksi miestä perustaa yhteisen yrityksen, jonka innoittajana on halu tehdä Mercedes-Benz-autoista sporttisempia. Mercedes-Benz kehitti 1960-luvun alussa 220 SE/300 SE -malliin kilpamoottoria, jonka parissa tuotekehitysosastolla työskentelivät insinööreinä myös Hans-Werner Aufrecht ja Erhard Melcher. Hans-Werner Aufrecht oli moottorin dynamometri-insinööri, ja Melcher oli puolestaan armoitettu virittäjävelho ja tunnettu motocross-kuljettaja. Kehitystyön ollessa kesken vuonna 1965 rallisääntöjä muutettiin, ja Mercedes-Benz päätti suunnata kilpamoottorin valmistamiseen sidotut voimavarat muualle lopettaen näiden moottoreiden kehitystyön kilpakäyttöön. The Aston Martin Vantage GTE is based on the critically-acclaimed Aston Martin Vantage road car, the most performance oriented sports car to come from Aston Martin’s ‘Second Century Plan’. Powered by a 4.0-litre, V8 turbo-charged AMG engine developed and optimised by AMR, the Vantage GTE is the first all-new GT car Aston Martin has introduced to the FIA WEC GTE category in seven years. Following an extensive 10-month testing and development programme that has covered 35,000km and 14 different circuits, the team is confident that it has a competitive and reliable car capable of repeating Aston Martin Racing's 2017 Le Mans 24 Hours glory in June and contending for the overall Super Season GTE Pro title. Aston Martin Racing also boasts a world class driving line-up in 2018. The story of AMG begins with two Daimler-Benz engineers. Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher worked in the Daimler-Benz Group’s development department in the 1960s and prepared the 300 SE racing engine – until Mercedes-Benz suspended all motorsport activities.
