That’s…that’s amazing. I’ve seen God in the window. That really got me…he’s been my idol since I was a kid…I’m…I’m speechless really. That’s very moving…” David Bowie, during his 50th Birthday Special on Radio 1, having listened to a recorded surprise birthday greeting from the elusive Scott Walker. Who can render David Bowie speechless? Who recorded Johnny Marr’s “favorite song of all time?” Who does Radiohead turn to time and time again as an inspirational touchstone? Who was bigger than the Beatles and the Stones for a shining moment, but turned away from fame only to morph into one of the most enigmatic and reclusive living legends in music today? THE MAN IS SCOTT WALKER. BUT WHO IS SCOTT WALKER? Called the “greatest voice of his generation," he was the lead singer of 60's sensation The Walker Brothers ("The Sun Aint' Gonna Shine Anymore") His fan club outnumbered the Beatles’ in 1965. -

CZECH (Under the Direction of John Weaver) ABSTRACT This project opens space for looking at the world in a musical way where “jamming” with music through playing and listening to it helps one resist a more standardized and dualistic way of seeing the world. Instead of having a traditional dissertation, this project is organized like a record album where each chapter is a Track that contains an original song that parallels and plays off the subject matter being discussed to make a more encompassing, multidimensional, holistic, improvisational, and critical statement as the songs and riffs move along together to tell why an arts-based musical way of being can be a choice and alternative in our lives. -
Lady Thatcher Celebrated Her 80Th Birthday Last
LADY THATCHER CELEBRATED HER 80TH BIRTHDAY LAST NIGHT WITH 650 GUESTS Andrew Pierce reports The Times Friday, October 14, 2005 BARONESS THATCHER had the perfect excuse to be a little late last night for her 80th birthday party in the presence of the Queen, Tony Blair and some unlikely names from the show-business world. She was delayed by an unexpected telephone call from President Bush wishing her a happy birthday. The ten- minute call from the White House was the latest in a series of tributes that poured in from around the world. It marked yet another highlight in the life of a woman who still casts a huge shadow over the Conservative Party. The red carpet was rolled out for Lady Thatcher, who was dressed in a navy blue cocktail coat and silk chiffon dress designed by Camilla Milton. Lady Thatcher, who looked frail, made no public comment as a crowd of wellwishers lined the streets to catch a glimpse of Britain's first woman Prime Minister. The 650-strong guest list was a roll call of honour from the 1980s Thatcher heyday. Michael Portillo, who was once seen as her anointed heir, made a surprise appearance. He said: "She was influential in her day but not now." But the former Prime Minister also sprinkled the list with some surprise names from both sides of the political divide. The Queen, in a shimmering silver dress, the Duke of Edinburgh, and the Prime Minister were the principal guests at the drinks party in the gold-embossed ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Hyde Park, in Knightsbridge. -

But what must their hearts be like?” – Stuart Maconie in the New Musical Express Production Notes Page 1 06/03/2007 “30 Century Man is a fascinating and entertaining exploration of one of the most extraordinary careers in pop culture. I have rarely seen a biographical documentary that is able to make the viewer experience the perspective of a devoted fan, a concerned friend, and a complete stranger at the same time. Like Scott Walker himself, this is an absolutely unique film.” Filmmaker Atom Egoyan Introduction “Wow. That’s…that’s amazing. I’ve seen God in the window. The Complete History of Bettendorf Football: 1951 ‐ Present
The Complete History of Bettendorf Football: 1951 ‐ Present An official production of www.bettendorffootball.com Edition 3.0 – May 6, 2011 © 2002‐2011 © www.bettendorffootball.com Edition 3.0 – May 6, 2011 © www.bettendorffootball.com Edition 3.0 – May 6, 2011 3rd Edition Overview First things first: simply put, this is anyone who ever has been a fan of Bettendorf Football. Certainly, it’s for all the coaches and players—past and present—who have shaped a dynasty with their commitment, discipline, and hard work. Finally, it’s for the players of tomorrow who simply need to do one thing: “Uphold the tradition.” This project initially began in July of 2007 and after pestering Coach Habenicht to write a Special Introduction—which he did on November 22, 2007—continued for the next year and a half. Finally, just before January 1st, 2009, the 1st Edition was finally completed. Two editions late, I asked Coach Scott to write his take on the 32-years he spent coaching BETT football and that is now included in the ebook. What exactly was done? Well, in short, all the information and data from the website was transferred into book form to preserve all the research and work that’s been done. Basically, if an EMP explodes or the site goes offline (for whatever reason), history has been preserved ala paper as opposed to digitally. Since the publication of that 1st Edition, more information has been updated. So, does that mean this 3rd Edition is perfect? Of course not—but every attempt possible was made to make it as error-free as possible.
