The album's name is named after the defunct Six Flags AstroWorld theme park, which was located in Houston, Texas, until it closed in 2005. In a 2017 interview with G magazine, Scott said of the album's title: They ripped off AstroWorld to build more living spaces. That's how it will sound, for example, to take away from children amusement park. We want him back. We want the building back. That's why I do it. He took pleasure out of town. Scott described the album as a continuation of his debut album, Rodeo (2015), stating, My whole idea was that if you locked up in Rodeo, you definitely locked up in Astroworld. I'm just finishing the saga I started on my first album. This should be my second album. I had to go fast because, as I said, I had all these ideas, I just had to come out very quickly, but now I'm finally back home with Astroworld. The album was recorded between 2016 and 2018, when Travis Scott posted updates on social media. In July 2018, it was reported that Scott was completing Hawaii with recording artists and producers such as Mike Dean, Nav, Frank Dukes, Sonny Digital, WondaGurl, Shek Weight, Gunna, Wheezy, Don Toliver, Allen Ritter and Amir 'Cash' Esmailian. Stargazing by Stargazing by Travis Scott discusses success that allows him to get rid of the horrors of his upbringing and put behind him the habit of such drug abuse to take a stand as a role model and become a better person. A brooding, psychedelic track built on trap beats, shiny notes and eerie cooing. The ethereal composition weaves together celestial hums and brooding lines of harmonica. Scott's lyrics are dedicated to the reproaches of those who ego make them feel and act in goodness. Problems with playing these files? See the media report. Astroworld is a hip-hop album that includes elements of trap and psychedelic music. Stargazing was described as a psychedelic trap, while Coffee Bean is said to inhabit old school hip-hop territory with blissful funk guitar. The song Skeletons was named by Pitchfork as kaleidoscope-pop that attracts the lyrical influences of Kanye West. Mkv player free to download torrent. The cover was shot by American photographer David LaChapelle and features a giant golden inflatable part of Scott's head as an entrance to the amusement park with children, parents and park staff in front of him. The second cover has the same entrance to the amusement park at night, replacing family features with adult content. On August 1, 2018, transgender model Amanda Lepore, a well-known LaChapelle collaborator, wondered why she had been excluded from the final version of the second cover. LaChapelle later responded by stating that it was due to the fact that Lepore stood up to other models on the cover. Download your photos, PSD, icons, or Id Card template vectors on Freepik. In September 2018, TIME reported that artist Frank Ocean had applied to stop and refrain from Scott so that his verse on Carousel would be deleted due to disagreements over the song's sound. Ocean soon released a clarification that said, I think the song sounds cool. I also approved of it before he came out so quit and the refrain was not about? is it about ?️?. Travis and I decided this together a few weeks ago. ???Ocean's use of the pride flag was seen to be a reference to remove Lepore from the lid. In May 2017, Scott downloaded three three SoundCloud - The Man, Green and Violet featuring Playboi Carti and Butterfly Effect. Butterfly Effect was released on May 15, 2017 for streaming and digital download as the album's lead single. It peaked at number 50 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The single Watch featuring Kanye West and Lil Uzi Vert was released on May 4, 2018. The song peaked at number 16 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. A giant sculpture of Scott's head appears on top of the Amoeba Music store in Los Angeles on July 27, 2018. Several copies of the sculpture have appeared in various other locations, including Scott's hometown of Houston, Texas. After considerable online speculation, Astroworld's release date was announced on July 30, 2018 via social media, along with the album's trailer for Stargazing. The release was followed by an episode of Wav Radio on Beats 1 with Chase B. Three songs had premieres that did not make the final list of tracks: Houdini featuring Playboi Carti, The Increase featuring Gunn, and Part Time. The music video for Stop Trying to Be God was released on August 6, 2018 under the direction of Dave Meyers.

NIELSEN SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT TRAVIS SCOTT ASTRONOMICAL @FORTNITE MAY 2020 Copyright © 2020 The Nielsen Company (US), LLC. Confidential and proprietary. Do not distribute. INTRODUCTION The extreme quarantine and lockdown measures have quickly become the new normal for us all. The direct impact on event attendance across entertainment and sports has caused many businesses to rethink how they can engage with their target audiences during this time. Fortnite, the online video game, has adapted to these circumstances and reinvented the concept of aggregation. Epic Games, in collaboration with Travis Scott, organized a unique musical journey inspired by the artist's influences and created from scratch within Fortnite: Astronomical. Epic Games planned a multi-date tour, with times suitable for players from all over the world, in which Travis Scott also performed a world preview song. The American artist attracted millions of people, who all tuned in via the game, in addition to various other video streaming platforms such as Youtube and Twitch, which also allowed viewers to watch the performances. As an example, the average minute audience (AMA) for this event on Epic Games’ official Twitch channel reached a total of 4.7M, with roughly half of that (2.3M) coming from live viewers during the initial event. Besides being at the forefront of reinventing entertainment formats, Fortnite continues to be a highly lucrative and well-known game. It made $1.8B* in 2019, and in Q1 2020 it remained as one of the highest- grossing and well-known gaming titles in the United States. Between March and April console and PC revenue grew 106% and the game hit an all-time high awareness level amongst the gaming community (92% awareness in the US**) showing that the event paid off.

  • Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: an Analysis Into Graphic Design's
Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres by Vivian Le A THESIS submitted to Oregon State University Honors College in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems (Honors Scholar) Presented May 29, 2020 Commencement June 2020 AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Vivian Le for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems presented on May 29, 2020. Title: Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres. Abstract approved:_____________________________________________________ Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay The rise of digital streaming has largely impacted the way the average listener consumes music. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.

Title of Thesis:Repeat-the-Beat: Industries, Genres and Citizenships in Dance Music Magazines Repeat-The-Beat: iii Abstract This thesis examines a particular cultural object: dance music magazines. It explores the co-imbrication of the magazines with dance music and considers how a reconfiguration of the field of genre theory can help to dismantle the generic separations of ‘textual’ and ‘industrial’ approaches to cultural objects. The main argument of the thesis is as follows. The magazine industries produce an object of cultural exchange which is made commercially viable through a narrowing of its target audiences. These audiences arise in the space created by the dance music industries’ negotiation of an imagined contest between 'underground' authenticity and 'mainstream' productivity. In turn, dance music magazines produce a powerfully exclusive space for the communication networks of the dance music genre by capitalising on the desire to stabilise genre and therefore taking up generic instability as a positive youth marketing strategy.

  • The Justice in Policing Act of 2020 in the U.S
June 23, 2020 Honorable Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House 1236 Longworth House Office Building Washington, DC 20515 Honorable Kevin McCarthy Republican Leader 2468 Rayburn House Office Building Washington, DC 20515 Dear Speaker Pelosi and Leader McCarthy: Since the killing of George Floyd just one month ago, our country has seen protests grow, attitudes shift, and calls for change intensify. We in the music and entertainment communities believe that Black lives matter and have long decried the injustices endured by generations of Black citizens. We are more determined than ever to push for federal, state, and local law enforcement programs that truly serve their communities. Accordingly, we are grateful for movement of the Justice in Policing Act of 2020 in the U.S. House of Representatives and urge its quick passage. The Justice in Policing Act is not about marginal change; it takes bold steps that will make a real, positive difference for law enforcement and the communities they serve. We celebrate the long- overdue rejection of qualified immunity, emphasizing that law enforcement officers themselves are not above the law – that bad cops must be held accountable and victims must have recourse. We applaud the provisions to ban chokeholds and no-knock warrants, to establish a national police misconduct registry, to collect data and improve investigations into police misconduct, to promote de-escalation practices, to establish comprehensive training programs, and to update and enhance standards and practices. This legislation will not only promote justice; it will establish a culture of responsibility, fairness, and respect deserving of the badge. Our communities and nation look to you to take a stand in this extraordinary moment and we respectfully ask that you vote YES on the Justice in Policing Act of 2020.
