Sonda si propone di curare e sviluppare il progetto musicale di coloro che decidono di sottoporre la propria arte ad un manipolo di consulenti (musicisti, produttori discografici, manager, editori musicali), otto “saggi” che cercano di affinare il profilo artistico di ciascun sonda.comune.modena.it iscritto, in modo da rendere la proposta più appetibile per il mercato musicale.     Rockharz - Finnische Bands Am Harzrand Stammt Und „Speed of Light“

    Rockharz - Finnische Bands am Harzrand stammt und „Speed of Light“. Timo Kotipelto war sichtlich über die Stimmung im Publikum erfreut. Er bedankte sich nach jedem Song auf Englisch, zum Teil auch auf Deutsch. Die Höhepunkte ihres Auftrittes waren definitiv die beiden letzten Songs „Hunting High and Low“ und „Black Diamond“. Das Publikum war nicht mehr zuhalten und sang zusammen textsicher die Refrains. Ein unvergesslicher Auftritt dessen Wiederholung wohl nicht ausgeschlossen ist. Kurz nachdem „Stratovarius“ die Bühne verlassen hatten begann es zu Regnen. Da es so schnell auch nicht aufhörte versuchte man sich einen der raren trockenen Plätze unter einen Sonnenschirm oder den Dächern der Bierzelte zu ergattern. Nach den Auftritten von „Hypocrisy“ und „Frei.Wild“ betraten „Amorphis“ die Dark Stage. Als ob dem Finnische Rockbands in Sachsen-Anhalt – gibt es Himmel bewusst war, dass nun eine finnische Band nicht? das Publikum rockte – es hörte endlich auf zu Doch, beim diesjährigen Rockharz vom 07. Abstract approved:_____________________________________________________ Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay The rise of digital streaming has largely impacted the way the average listener consumes music. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.

For many artists and fans, folk metal is more than just music: it is a way of revitalising tradition. Folk metal is then a genre which is closely related to individual‟s cultural identities. As part of popular culture, heavy metal has been investigated for instance in the fields of cultural studies and psychology. Andrew Brown investigates how heavy metal emerged as subject for academic research. Deena Weinstein approaches heavy metal as culture and behaviour that is shared by individuals from different cultural backgrounds. However, subgenres like folk metal have not yet been explored in depth by academics. Analysing folk metal‟s nuances in specific national contexts would provide further knowledge on national cultures and identities. One example of folk metal reflecting elements of national culture is Finnish folk metal. The bands whose works belong to this genre usually draw from Finnish culture to compose their works, which usually feature stories from a variety of traditional sources such as the epic book Kalevala. Such stories are then transposed into new media, disseminating the artists‟ concept of Finnishness.

I examine three significant roles – musicians, audiences, and mediators, and focus on the interaction between the localized Chinese metal scene and metal globalization. This thesis project uses multiple methods, including textual analysis, observation, surveys, and in-depth interviews. In this thesis, I illustrate an image of the Chinese metal scene, present the characteristics and the development of metal musicians, fans, and mediators in China, discuss their contributions to scene’s construction, and analyze various internal and external factors that influence the localization of metal in China. After that, I argue that the development and the localization of the metal scene in China goes through three stages, the emerging stage (1988-1996), the underground stage (1997-2005), the indie stage (2006-present), with Chinese characteristics.
