Pioneers of the new genre, which influenced its development was Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath bands. They were all originated in England and started form playing Hard-Rock. The biggest change happened by the end of the 70s with forming of the new wave of England's Heavy Metal. At that time bands filled their music with more speedy sounds of the guitar solo as well as sharp and powerful vocals. All of these events helped to the creation of the new genre. The most noticeable bands performed in this genre were Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Saxon, Manowar, and Diamond Head. In the beginning of the 80s a lot of bands were increasing the speed and aggressiveness of their sound, thus unknowingly creating new trends in metal. That is how was created more melodic Speed Metal which later became Power Metal and more extreme genre by the name of Thrash Metal. It nowadays publishes literature in the fields of ethnology and folkloristics, linguistics, literary research and cultural history. The first volume of the Studia Fennica series appeared in 1933. Since 1992, the series has been divided into three thematic subseries: Ethnologica, Folkloristica and Linguistica. Two additional subseries were formed in 2002, Historica and Litteraria. The subseries Anthropologica was formed in 2007. In addition to its publishing activities, the Finnish Literature Society maintains research activities and infrastructures, an archive containing folklore and literary collections, a research library and promotes Finnish literature abroad.
