Budget 2019 is on track to making life more affordable for Manitobans. The Manitoba government is keeping promises 19033gm9 and giving Manitobans the break they deserve by reducing the provincial sales tax (PST) to % seven per cent. 7 In five years’ time, that will save an average family PST of four, more than $3,000. The drop will also stimulate labour income by nearly $50 million per year, contributing to the growth of wages and salaries. Diane Van Wart and Monika Han- sen will be reading from and hosting a workshop about their new book, “Wilson and Little Hare Visit the Zoo” at the Gwen Fox Gallery on Saturday, April 6 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Van Wart said she really wanted to make a book, and after discussing it with her friend Hansen, the pair de- cided to make children’s books. “I was a teacher for a long time, I al- ways enjoyed teaching kids. I remem- ber when my kids would look out the window, and they’d spot a rabbit run- ning around. They’d say ‘look mom! Come here!’ It was so cute,” Van Wart said. Both Van Wart and Hansen are life- long Selkirk residents, and draw a lot of inspiration from the area, and the animals that call the city home. “Our fi rst two books were based around the animals we saw in our backyards.
