FMG Stadium Waikato, the home of Waikato Rugby since 1925, has been the scene of many spectacular Waikato and All Blacks fixtures over the years. The stadium has a crowd capacity of 25,800 and the main stand (Brian Perry Stand) includes five levels of corporate and function lounges, offices, changing rooms and media facilities. It is here that the Waikato Rugby Union offices are situated. On the bottom floor is the Waikato Rugby Union gym and player’s area. This will be the base for the WRU International Player Development Programme, along with the adjacent Beetham Park training field. Player development Programme structure The Waikato Rugby Union is regarded nationally as a leader in player development and bases the holistic programme around the six pillars of player development: TECHNICAL TACTICAL LEADERSHIP PHYSICAL NUTRITION MENTAL When entering the programme, each player is individually assessed across the six pillars of player development. -

Today we welcome newly promoted Wainuiomata. The first round match saw a flattering 5—nil victory however Wainui have improved markedly. It’s been a month since we played at Hutt Park. A tough away encounter at Wests, a Chatham Cup game in the polar wind tunnel at Wakefield Park against Island Bay and then another night game in freezing conditions against Lower Hutt at Fraser. Well it’s nice to be home and playing during the daytime — on grass! Season two back in Central League has seen an improved start to the campaign. In fact our last home defeat was close to a year ago on the 13th June 2015 against you guessed it — Napier City Rovers. This season has seen a host of yellows and reds being handed out—something like 8 reds in all games we’ve been involved in already! And that seems to be consistent with our Central and Capital Premier colleagues with a host of games being impacted in this way. -

We are extremely thankful to have secured a fantastic home ground for the 2020 NPL season and we hope, with your help, that we can make it a fortress in which no team will come here and enjoy playing. As recently appointed Technical Director for the Club, it gives me great pleasure to be able to extend a welcome to all of our club patrons and say thank you to the officials at Lambert Park, Football NSW and Football Federation Australia. I would also like to take time to congratulate First Grade Coach Joe Haywood and the team for what was an excellent season in 2019.
