3 INTRODUCTION

Music is called a universal language. People all around the world have many different kinds of music. Like story-telling, music can tell the history of a country or tell much about its people. Music can stir your emotions, too. Some songs make you smile or dance; others make you thoughtful or sad. There are many kinds of music from classical to rock and from country to rap. There are many types of people who write and perform the music, too. There are the composers of long ago, like Mozart or Beethoven, and the musical artists of today, like Ray Charles or Paul McCartney. What is your favorite kind of music? Have you tried listening to others? Now is your chance to read about music, composers, dancing, and adventures relating to music. Take time to learn about music--today's and yesterday's. It can tell you a lot about our neighbors around the world.
