Myself, Elise and Josiah would like to wish everyone a peaceful and contented Christmas and new year. We are acutely aware that it will be a difficult me for some of you and please be assured of how we hold you in our prayers. That said, we have a tremendous inheritance in Christ who is the light of the world of whom the darkness has not overcome. Hopefully many of you will pick up this edi on before Christmas day and we look forward to worshipping with you all in Drumany on Christmas Eve and in Derrylin and Crom on Christmas day. Please do remember the service is at 9pm in Drumany and at the slightly earlier mes of 10am and 11.30am respec vely in Derrylin and Crom. For many of us, the last couple of months have been extremely busy and so I do trust that Christmas me will also be a me where you can all ‘step back’ and rest while apprecia ng every good thing around you. 2019 will have many wonderful moments I’m sure and no doubt many challenges as well but it’s important to remember that the Lord ‘goes before us in everything’ (Joshua 1 v9). His grace is sufficient at all mes. We also look forward to sharing that journey with you as the Lord con nues to show us his plan for this parish and community.
Much love, Rev Alastair

2 News Around The Parish / People
Why this magazine? This is a new venture for Kinawley & Holy Trinity Parish and the hope is that it will become something you all look forward to on a quarterly basis. It is not designed to take the place of either the Pew News or the Scribe but to help us as a parish to understand more of God’s work throughout the world. It is very easy to forget that the Church is a worldwide en ty so hopefully you enjoy some of the informa on presented to you.

4 Gafcon Ireland
Over 50 church leaders came together as Gafcon Ireland held their annual two-day residen al. They were addressed by members of the Gafcon Church Plan ng network recently set up following the Jerusalem gathering in June.
Those present were reminded the four P’s of Gafcon Ireland are to PROCLAIM, PARTNER, PLANT and PREPARE. Of these 4 aims, partnering and plan ng present the greatest challenge. Yet they are central to the future of Anglican ministry in Ireland. Gafcon Ireland has commi ed to plant 50 churches in the next 50 years!
But does this fit with being authen cally Anglican?
Dr. Ashley Null – the great scholar of Thomas Cranmer and the English Reforma on– provided a masterclass in founda onal Anglican theology. The Anglican Book of Homilies, the Book of Common Prayer – the ‘Title Deeds’ of Anglicanism – demonstrate that Anglicanism is movement founded on Scripture, concerned with sin, jus fica on by faith, and the love of God! On the island of Ireland there are so many who do not know of this love for which they were made. They do not know of the love that is ini ated by God alone and turns our hearts to right love of our creator who bought us back by the blood of Jesus the Son. They do not know the God of all comfort. To take the message of Christ with cultural sensi vity is the work of authen c Anglicans. So Gafcon Ireland will devote itself to PARTNER and to PLANT. Whether it is Belfast or Dublin, Galway or Cork, it is commi ed. The good news is that we are not alone, and that we have already started. Will you join us as we plan to PARTNER and PLANT?
• Pray for urgency - for the me is short. • Pray for pa ence - for it is the Lord’s work. • Pray for and give financial support - for that is what gospel fellowship means. • Pray for church planters who are PREPARED and able for the work. • Pray for churches whose affec ons and hearts, are li ed up to the Lord in love for God by his word PROCLAIMED.
5 Anglican Bites
The Anglican church of Chile recently became the 40th province of the Anglican Communion. The decision to bring the Chilean church to provincial status was made by the Standing Commi ee of the Anglican Consulta ve Council, and a majority of Anglican Communion Primates. The decision to become an independent Anglican province follows a sustained period of growth of the Anglican Church in Chile and is designed to make further growth easier.
Bishop Héctor Zavala Muñoz, more commonly known as Bishop Tito, became Primate of the new Province on 4 November 2018. In an open le er to Anglicans in Chile, he said that the diocese had “never ceased complying with all the requirements and procedures” requested of it since its Synod sought to become an autonomous independent province of the Anglican Communion in November 2015.
We remember the Diocese of Albany within the Episcopal Church of the United States (ECUSA). Please pray for their bishop William (Bill) Love and that he would lead faithfully and compassionately.
