The subject property, which has an approximate area of 16.0 ha, is identified by three land parcels identified by Service New Brunswick (SNB) property identification numbers PID 70410089, PID 70371257 and PID 00845743. The latter land parcels are owned by Downeast Plastics Ltd. which is the parent company of Thermalite Products Inc. 1 EIA Registration – Thermalite Facility Water Supply Source Assessment (WSSA), Cap-Pelé, NB MON-00252430-A0 2 Project Description 2.1 Project Name Thermalite Facility Water Supply Source Assessment (WSSA), Cap-Pelé, NB 2.2 Project Overview The project consists of the completion of a Water Supply Source Assessment (WSSA) of the current operational groundwater supply well (i.e. Well #1) which supplies potable and process water to the existing Thermalite manufacturing facility situated in Cap-Pelé. Since the project relates to the assessment of an existing water supply and does not involve the development of a new source, it is anticipated that the minimal requirements under the provincial EIA process will suffice and it is noted that several aspects of a typical EIA (e.g. formal siting study, construction considerations, etc.) are not applicable to this project. The location of the study area in a regional context is indicated on Figure 1, which also shows the approximate locations of the subject property and Well #1. The EIA trigger for the project relates to the requirement for “all waterworks with a capacity greater than fifty cubic metres of water daily” to be registered as an undertaking in accordance with the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulation (NB Regulation 87-83) under the Clean Environment Act since plant management is contemplating a possible future increase in the workforce and plant production. It is expected that these potential future changes would result in the water demand of the plant (i.e. Well #1) exceeding the regulatory threshold of 50 m3/day. The WSSA will be completed in general accordance with the requirements of the New Brunswick Department of the Environment and Local Government (NBDELG), with some minor modifications related to the fact that Well #1 is an existing well situated in an operational facility as described in Appendix 1. In general, the process consists of the completion of a Step 1 application form which provides background information on the proposed project including water quality and quantity requirements; the rationale for the proposed source development; a discussion of local hydrogeological conditions and existing area groundwater users; and details potential sources of contamination in the study area. In this study, the occurrence and abundance of ground beetles were analysed according to habitat preference and dispersal ability. A total of 65 carabid species were found in the three green areas. Obviously, the high species richness of ground beetles in the greenery of the Lublin is determined by the mostly undeveloped floodplain of the river Bystrzyca. The species richness of carabids and their relative abundance decrease in the assemblage of green areas under the effect of isolation of green patches and fragmentation of the semi-natural landscape elements in the urban environment. Generalists and open-habitat species significantly prevailed in all green areas. The prevailing of riparian and forest species at floodplain sites of the river Bystrzyca demonstrated the existence of a connection of the carabid assemblage with landscape of river valley. The Saski Park and gully “Rury” are more influenced by urbanization (fragmentation, isolation of green patches) and recreation that is consistent with the significant prevalence of open-habitats species in the carabid beetle assemblage. Carabids were collected since the end of April till the late July 2011 using pitfall traps. In total 67 carabid species were found during of the study period. The number of species varies from 54 in valley of Bystrzyca to 5 on the lawns along street. The highest species richness (5.94) had the studied floodplain of river Bystrzyca in comparison with other green territories. All studied green areas were distinguished by considerable individuality. Our results support the thesis that despite of the sizeable areas of the lawns and flowerbeds, their role in the diversity maintenance and preservation is minimal. Keywords: species richness, urban green areas, Carabidae The populated areas extension and transformation of the landscapes are important characteristics of second half of the 20 th century. The expansion of cities is accompanied by a reduction of proportion between green and residential zones. In view of this many publications appeared that deal with diversity of insects in urban landscapes [1-13]. It was showed that considerable moving of urban green areas (parks, squares, flowerbeds, grass spots and water bodies) away from the surrounding cities of ecosystems leads to reduction of biodiversity [14].

Three species (Dyschirius abditus (Fedorenko, 1993), Demetrias imperialis (Germar, 1823) and Microlestes fulvibasis (Reitter, 1901)) were reported for the first time for Albania, three others Cylindera( germanica muel- leri (Magistretti, 1966), Cylindera arenaria viennensis (Schrank, 1781) and Thalas- sophilus longicornis (Sturm, 1825)) were documented for the first time with detailed and trusted data for this country. Several other taxa were found for the second time or were rediscovered after many years. From other parts of the Vjosa valley, two further new or unequivocally documented species for Albania, Cylindera germanica germanica (Linnaeus, 1758) and Parazuphium chevrolatii (Laporte, 1833) were reported. Within the study area near Kutë, the highest numbers of carabid species and specimens were caught on silty and moist sediment bars with initial to pioneer vegetation situated either directly along the main channel of the Vjosa or in drying, regularly flooded side arms.

Wildlife crossing structures (tunnels or overpasses) are one solution that has been implemented to restore habitat connectivity and reduce wildlife mortality. Evaluating how these crossings function for small wildlife has often been recommended but, mainly due to technical limitations, is not often conducted in practice or only as short-term monitoring (less than 1 year). In this study, we developed and tested an automated device that records the detailed behaviour of animals when using wildlife tunnels. The method is based on marking and detecting individuals with RFID (radio-frequency identifcation) tags and allows small animals to be tracked. Composed of four antennas (detec- tors) placed at roughly 2 m intervals, the system was tested in a tunnel in northern France in the summer of 2017. One species of amphibian (the toad Bufo spinosus, n 13) and two carabids (the ground beetles Carabus coriaceus and Carabus nemoralis, respectively, n 3 and n 4),= marked beforehand with PIT (passive integrated transponder) tags, were recorded when they crossed= these detectors.= This allowed individual trajectories, including crossing speed, to be estimated. Results: We found that 12 of the 13 toads and 3 of the 7 ground beetles successfully crossed the entire wildlife pas- sage of 7 m long.

At that time, practically no characteristics were known by which the Vertebrates could be linked to any of the other animal groups. Up to the 1850's, most research in embryology and anatomy had reinforced the idea that wide differences existed in the basic structural and developmental patterns of Vertebrates and animals belonging to other branches of the animal kingdom. As a result, morphological practice was affected by a strong tradition against comparison of Vertebrates and Invertebrates. With the acceptance of the evolutionary viewpoint, it became theoretically valid to compare animals of different types, based on the possi- bility of their remote common ancestry. However, the practical matter of demonstrating that relationship with concrete evidence proved to be one of the most difficult challenges confronting early evolutionary morphology. Three different theories were proposed between 1864 and 1870, each attempting to link the Vertebratesand one of the Invertebrate groups to a hypotheticalcommon ancestor. In 1864, Franz Leydig proposed an evolutionary relationship between Arthropods and Vertebrates; in1866, Ernst Haeckel attempted to connect Vertebrates with Roundworms; and in 1868, on the basis ofnew research by Aleksandr Kovalevskii, Haeckel proposed another theory which linked Vertebrates with Tunicates. The proposals which formed the basis of the Tunicate theory becamethe center of a heated debate in the late 1860's and early 1870's.
