Digital Hymnal - Master Index Dh100 Version Cp GULBRANSEN DIGITAL HYMNAL - MASTER INDEX DH100 VERSION CP DIGITAL HYMNAL GULBRANSEN DH-100CP MASTER INDEX The Master Index allows easy access to all of the thousands of hymns pre-programmed into the GULBRANSEN DIGITAL HYMNAL. The Master Index contains the specific hymn title and the tune name arranged in alphabetical order together with the hymn master reference number. For example, to play the hymn “Word of God, Across the Ages”, select the Master Index code 9000, (as explained on page 9 of the manual) plus the master reference number (found in the Master Index) which is 492. Simply press k b b b plus ENTER and f k d plus ENTER then PLAY. Another convenient way to use the Hymnal is to refer to one of the many popular hymn books that have already been indexed internally by GULBRANSEN. You will then have words and music to use with the Hymnal performance. For example, to play hymns from The Baptist Hymnal, select code 9001 (as explained on page 9 of the manual). When selecting a hymn such as “Word of God, Across the Ages” (number 262 in The Baptist Hymnal), simply press k b b c plus ENTER and d h d plus ENTER then PLAY. The Hymnal always remembers the specific hymn book that you have selected until it is explicitly told to switch to a different one. It even remembers when it is turned off or the battery is removed. Due to copyright and publisher restrictions, some hymns found in your particular hymn book may not be available and therefore inaccessible on the Hymnal. However, the thousands of hymns listed in the Master Index are not restricted and can be played. HYMN TITLES versus HYMN TUNE NAMES Hymn titles such as “Word of God, Across the Ages” are listed in upper and lower case letters. Hymn tune names (names that are used to label the music without reference to any particular lyrical text) are all upper case (example: “AUSTRIAN HYMN” — the tune name for “Word of God, Across the Ages”). When a hymn book is unavailable, the Master Index provides two ways to find most hymns. This well known Haydn tune appears alphabetically in the “A”s as “AUSTRIAN HYMN” and also alphabetically in the “W”s as “Word of God, Across the Ages”. Both entries show the hymn master reference number 492. Example: 492 AUSTRIAN HYMN and 492 Word of God, Across the Ages DUPLICATE HYMN TITLES Browsing through this Master Index you will notice that some hymn titles may be repeated with different reference numbers. This indicates that these tunes were different enough to justify separate Hymnal recordings. Occasionally a tune name will be listed more than once. This indicates that they are two distinctly different tunes, or different versions of the same tune. When the tune name is the same as the hymn name for a given index number, we will usually omit the tune name from the Master Index. 1 GULBRANSEN DIGITAL HYMNAL - MASTER INDEX DH100 VERSION CP Gulbransen would like to highlight the following titles contained in the Digital Hymnal that may be of special interest to your music needs. These tunes do not appear in any of the indexed hymn books shown on page 9 of the Operation Manual (Owner’s Manual). 53 And the Glory of the Lord George Frederick Handel 2366 Army Air Corps Song 811 Ave Maria Bach/Gounod 806 Ave Maria Schubert 812 Because Guy D'Hardelot 2368 Caisson Song 1450 Deep and Wide 2364 Gaudeamus Igitur 2371 Grand March from Aida Giuseppe Verdi 46 Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring Johann Schop, harm. FOREWARD The first place, if you want Scripture, the people are supposed to come to the house of God for one purpose, that is, to worship, to sing songs, and to worship God. That’s the way God expects it. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS, January 3, 1954, paragraph 111. There’s something about those old-fashioned songs, the old-time hymns. I’d rather have them than all these new worldly songs put in, that is in Christian churches. HEBREWS, CHAPTER SIX, September 8, 1957, paragraph 449. I tell you, I really like singing. DOOR TO THE HEART, November 25, 1959. Oh, my! Don’t you feel good? Think, friends, this is Pentecost, worship. This is Pentecost. Let’s clap our hands and sing it.

INTRODUCTION The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov is considered one of the best and most highly regarded novels to come out of Russia during the Soviet era. The book weaves together satire and realism, art and religion, history and contemporary social values. It features three story lines. The main story, taking place in Russia of the 1930s, concerns a visit by the devil, referred to as Professor Woland, and four of his assistants during Holy Week; they use black magic to play tricks on those who cross their paths. Another story line features the Master, who has been languishing in an insane asylum, and his love, Margarita, who seeks Woland's help in being reunited with the Master. A third story, which is presented as a novel written by the Master, depicts the crucifixion of Yeshua Ha-Notsri, or Jesus Christ, by Pontius Pilate. Using the fantastic elements of the story, Bulgakov satirizes the greed and corruption of Stalin's Soviet Union, in which people's actions were controlled as well as their perceptions of reality.

M. Anderson "Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation." Heb. 9:28. A most momentous event occurred in human history when the only begotten Son of God was once offered to bear the sins of many. His marvelous manifestation to redeem us will be equaled only by the supernal sunburst and ineffable splendor of His second appearing to receive us unto Himself at the climatic consummation of this age of the gospel. Christ's vicarious suffering on the middle cross gave Him the victor's garland and the monarch's diadem. It is written, "He must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet." II Cor. 15:25. Christ, the mighty Conqueror, is now seated on the mediatorial throne at the right hand of the Majesty on high, His crown radiant with the rays of the unsetting Sun of eternal revelation, and His scepter of sovereign righteousness sweeping the circumference of the whole created universe of God.
