FOREWARD The first place, if you want Scripture, the people are supposed to come to the house of God for one purpose, that is, to worship, to sing songs, and to worship God. That’s the way God expects it. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS, January 3, 1954, paragraph 111. There’s something about those old-fashioned songs, the old-time hymns. I’d rather have them than all these new worldly songs put in, that is in Christian churches. HEBREWS, CHAPTER SIX, September 8, 1957, paragraph 449. I tell you, I really like singing. DOOR TO THE HEART, November 25, 1959. Oh, my! Don’t you feel good? Think, friends, this is Pentecost, worship. This is Pentecost. Let’s clap our hands and sing it. Pentecostal people, everybody, try to loosen up, get that old Methodist formality out of you. Now come on, let’s sing it! THE SEVENTY WEEKS OF DANIEL, August 6, 1961, paragraph 230. Oh. I just love those good, old songs, there’s something about them songs that I like. You can have all of your little, chopped up songs you want to. Give me that, I like that, Past The Riven Veil, all these other pretty songs like that. I like them songs. I think singing is part of worship (yes sir), singing the praises to the Lord. All right, for our dismissing now, song, is Take The Name Of Jesus With You. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS, August 30, 1964 P.M., pages 270 and 271 Now let’s close our eyes and raise our hands, and sing to Him. WHY IT HAD TO BE SHEPHERDS, December 21, 1964, paragraph 272. Does that make you feel good? How many likes to sing them old songs? I_I just love them. Don’t you? . Doesn’t that make you feel wonderful? My, my! Oh. Let’s just raise our hands and just praise Him in our own way. A MAN RUNNING FROM THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD. INTRODUCTION The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov is considered one of the best and most highly regarded novels to come out of Russia during the Soviet era. The book weaves together satire and realism, art and religion, history and contemporary social values. It features three story lines. The main story, taking place in Russia of the 1930s, concerns a visit by the devil, referred to as Professor Woland, and four of his assistants during Holy Week; they use black magic to play tricks on those who cross their paths. Another story line features the Master, who has been languishing in an insane asylum, and his love, Margarita, who seeks Woland's help in being reunited with the Master. A third story, which is presented as a novel written by the Master, depicts the crucifixion of Yeshua Ha-Notsri, or Jesus Christ, by Pontius Pilate. Using the fantastic elements of the story, Bulgakov satirizes the greed and corruption of Stalin's Soviet Union, in which people's actions were controlled as well as their perceptions of reality.

  • Psalm 100 Sermon: Beginning with Moses and All the Prophets Reading
Call to worship – Psalm 100 Sermon: Beginning with Moses and all the Prophets Reading: Luke 24: 13- 35 Jesus seeking you. Jesus walking beside you. Jesus revealing Himself to you. Your response. Please hold these four thoughts in your mind as we meet this morning. My heart leapt when I saw that the lectionary reading for this morning was the passage where Luke describes the two on the road to Emmaus. It is a passage that has been important to me and one that is rich in teaching. Many of you will be familiar with the passage, but I want us to look at what is described. It is the morning of the resurrection when the woman who had taken spices they had prepared went to the tomb which they found to be empty. Two men appeared to the woman and say, “He is not here; He has risen!” The women are reminded that Jesus had said that he would be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified, but on the third day would be raised again. And we read then that the women told these things to the Eleven and to all the others. After this, Cleopas and another left and were walking to the village called Emmaus. This was about 11 km from Jerusalem. We read that they were talking about everything that had happened when Jesus himself came up and walked with them. We read that they were kept from recognising him. Jesus then asks them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?” They actually stop walking and Cleopas asks, “Are you only a visitor to Jerusalem and do not know the things that have happened there in these days?” Jesus answers, “What things?”.

St. Terese of Lisieux: a Taste of Heaven on Earth Abstract In lieu of an abstract, below is the essay's first paragraph. “Upon my death I will let fall a shower of roses; I wish to spend my heaven in doing good upon the earth.” This is the famous promise made by St Thérèse which, she fulfilled. Reading these words from my daily prayer book, this well known quotation is part of what initially intrigued me about the life of this heroic saint." • 2018 APOSTOLIC PRAISE CHORUSBOOK Richard W. Smith
2018 APOSTOLIC PRAISE CHORUSBOOK The 2018 Apostolic Praise© Chorusbook combines a unique compilation of 130 choruses, written chiefly for those who have gone through the Apostolic Praise© series who wish to enlarge their repertoire of songs. It contains a wide variety of songs, from old standards such as “Wonderful Peace” to Gospel choruses such as “Saved” “Power” and “Breakthrough” to more contemporary songs such as “Jesus Messiah.” However, what makes this chorusbook different is the fact that the songs are not written with just the basic, easy, boring chords, as most lead sheets are. Instead, the songs have been totally rewritten with advanced, fullsounding chords, giving the musician that plays them a very professional sound. When the musician plays “O I Want To See Him” the Apostolic Praise© way, it won’t be with just the simple IIVV chords. Instead, it is going to have a variety of complex, beautifulsounding chords that will make the song sound more modern. Also included are some resources on how to transpose songs to different keys, as well as an explanation page for some of the unique symbols that this chorusbook uses. Richard W. Immanuel’s Land The Sands of Time Are Sinking They shall see His face. (Revelation 22:4) 1. The sands of time are sinking, 6. E’en Anwoth was not heaven— The dawn of heaven breaks, E’en preaching was not Christ; The summer morn I’ve sighed for, And in my sea-beat prison The fair, sweet morn awakes: My Lord and I held tryst: Dark, dark hath been the midnight, And aye my murkiest storm-cloud But dayspring is at hand, Was by a rainbow spann’d, And glory—glory dwelleth Caught from the glory dwelling In Immanuel’s land. In Immanuel’s land. 2. Oh! well it is forever, 7. But that He built a heaven Oh! well forevermore Of His surpassing love, My nest hung in no forest A little New Jerus’lem, Of all this death-doomed shore! Like to the one above,— Yea, let the vain world vanish, “Lord, take me o’er the water,” As from the ship the stand, Had been my loud demand, While glory—glory dwelleth “Take me to love’s own country, In Immanuel’s land. Unto Immanuel’s land.” 3. There the Red Rose of Sharon 8. But flowers need night’s cool darkness, Unfolds its heart-most bloom. The moonlight and the dew; And fills the air of Heaven So Christ, from one who loved it, With ravishing perfume; His shining oft withdrew; Oh, to behold its blossom, And then, for cause of absence, While by its fragrance fann’d My troubled soul I scann’d— Where glory—glory dwelleth But glory, shadeless, shineth In Immanuel’s land.
