His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave Him great pleasure. So we praise God for the wonderful kindness He has poured out on us because we belong to his dearly loved Son. He is so rich in kindness that He purchased our freedom through the blood of His Son, and our sins are forgiven… God’s secret plan has now been revealed to us; it is a plan centered on Christ, designed long ago according to his good pleasure. And this is His plan; At the right time He will bring everything together under the authority of Christ – everything in Heaven and on Earth. Furthermore, because of Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for He chose us from the beginning, and all things happen just as He decided long ago. - 4 - UPON THIS ROCK SCRIPT DRAFT #8 2/21/2018 6:08:29 AM Music Cues Script: Upon This Rock Passion Play Tech Cues (Three Years Earlier) Dancers perform choreographed Narr: Early in the morning, Jesus went up into the opening selection mountain, and all the people came unto Him, and sat down, and He began to teach them. That, is a transgression of the law! Jesus (proceeds downstage): You marvel at my healing the lame man, but the Father will show me greater works than these, that I may repeat them here on earth, and that you may wonder, not in curiosity as now, but in shame at your unbelief. (FREEZE) (Lights down – spot on Thaddeus) - 5 - UPON THIS ROCK SCRIPT DRAFT #8 2/21/2018 6:08:29 AM Music Cues Script: Upon This Rock Passion Play Tech Cues Soliloquy: Thaddeus Thaddeus moves Hatred begets hatred, and becomes a train of bitterness downstage from traveling on infinitely. The Pharisees demonstrated this center. Lights type of hatred toward the Christ. down. Spot on Thaddeus & These men so full of their laws and traditions, cleansing Jesus the outside, while on the inside, Jesus declares, they are full of dead men’s bones. The Pharisees were not interested in the truth, they only show up to point an accusing finger, to murmur and complain, to infect and contaminate. The Pharisee spirit can never be satisfied until it has spewed its venom upon any and everyone that refuses to feed its hatred. However, there is an antidote; love, pure, undefiled, the love of Christ. (BREAK FREEZE. Lights Up – spot out) Jesus: Oh generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. What can we say God’s Kingdom is like? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest seed planted in the ground, but, when you plant the seed, it grows. It becomes the largest of all garden plants. The Kingdom of Heaven is like yeast that a woman used. She mixed it into a large amount of flour. The yeast worked its way all through the dough. - 6 - UPON THIS ROCK SCRIPT DRAFT #8 2/21/2018 6:08:29 AM The Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure that was hidden in a field. The Kingdom of Heaven is like a trader looking for fine pearls. The Kingdom of Heaven is like a net let down in the sea which catches good fish and bad. The bad are thrown out when the fishermen begin to separate them. Our Father (Lights down, spot on Jesus) who is in Heaven, Holy is your name. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth, as it is in Heaven. Little flock, do not be afraid. (Lights up. Spot out) Your Father is pleased to give you, the Kingdom! Selection: We Declare The Kingdom (two rounds) (Cast freeze – lights down, spot on rabbis) Selection: We Are the Priests/We Declare/This Man Must Be Stopped (Cast Freeze – Lights Down – Spot on Rabbis Center stage during brief “We are the priests...” Medley: We are the Priests/We Declare that the Kingdom of God is Here/This Man Must Be Stopped. Conclusion of medley, disciples and cast move upstage to Jesus with hands raised. Curtain IN). FAST CURTAIN - 7 - UPON THIS ROCK SCRIPT DRAFT #8 2/21/2018 6:08:29 AM Music Cues Script: Upon This Rock Passion Play Tech Cues Soliloquy: His Death…My Freedom (Lynetta Bowman) (Enter right – exit left – Arms out stretched...as blood shed from his veins...His skin ripped and torn as they stripped him down to shame.. I can only imagine the agony, as they laughed at his name...But if only they knew how much weight and power it carried..he wouldn't have had to pay the cost..but you see...he loved me so much he put my name on his back and carried it on the cross. And...he never said a mumbling word..for they did not know what they had done..and like a drum, they beat you..threw rocks to defeat you..whipped and mistreated you..and yet..you forgave..when they didn't believe in you. But..his grace is just that sufficient and his love is unreachable..unbelievable that he would sacrifice himself for someone like me so that I can have everlasting life..and they pierced him in his hands..and they pierced him in his sides..they nailed his feet together,,,hurt and pain welled in his eyes..bowing his head saying "It is finished", but the stories never over when you have God in it...Through suffering turmoil, falling on his hands and feet..it didn't take many days, in fact it took only 3. And you see...that's just how amazing God is..he died for us so that we can live...He carried our burdens and heartaches and shackles that holds us to this world..his death became the key, so unlock yourself from the chains because you and I are free...his blood became my freedom. - 8 - UPON THIS ROCK SCRIPT DRAFT #8 2/21/2018 6:08:29 AM Music Cues Script: Upon This Rock Passion Play Tech Cues ACT I - SCENE II A Trilogy of Miracles Selection: The Heavens Are Telling (Trio: Felecia, Krista, Terilyn) Felecia: I am a woman of Samaria.
