Date 14 January 2018 Olive and oil guide in the Tirana area 1*Benard Ruci, 2Belul Gixhari, 2Hairi Ismaili 1Stacioni eksperimental i ullirit, Tirane 2Universiteti Bujqesor i Tiranes, Banka Gjenetike Tirane Corresponding author:[email protected] Abstract The olive domestication in the mediterranean basin is 40-45 thousand years before, also in the same era on both sides of the Ionian and Adriatic coast. In Albania, Olive resources constitute a valuable source of food and historically are considered sacred, a blessed tree, a symbol of joy and victories, ritual of folk culture and tradition. This study was conducted over three years and was aimed at exploring the agrotouristic qualities of olive and oil, in two regions of olive populations, in the Adriatic and Ionian areas. The method has consisted, through some on-line surveys, disseminating and gathering information on old trees and old oil objects through; mob, mail, Viber, WhatsApp etc. The collected information is computerized and analyzed in situ and identified old individuals, mills and other ancient objects. Old objects have been observed and conform to the terms, of which 35 older trees, 6 mulls and 8 castles have been selected, who are over 2500 years old. Some individuals are over 3,000 years old, ie the first millennium BC, and together with the forts symbolize ancient Illyrian culture. The quality of old tree oil is superior and there are many popular traditions of treating many diseases. According to the old tradition of processing it results that 10-15% of the oil is of extraordinary curative value.

It was opened on 28 October 1981 and is 27,000 square meters in size, while 18,000 square meters are available for expositions. The National Historical Museum includes the following pavilions: Pavilion of Antiquity, Pavilion of the Middle Ages, Pavilion of Renaissance, Pavilion of Independence, Pavilion of Iconography, Pavilion of the National Liberation Antifascist War, Pavilion of Communist Terror, and Pavilion of Mother Teresa. • Et'hem Bey Mosque – Tirana, Albania o The Et’hem Bey Mosque is located in the center of the Albanian capital Tirana. Construction was started in 1789 by Molla Bey and it was finished in 1823 by his son Ethem Pasha (Haxhi Ethem Bey), great- grandson of Sulejman Pasha. • Mount Dajt – Tirana, Albania o Its highest peak is at 1,613 m. In winter, the mountain is often covered with snow, and it is a popular retreat to the local population of Tirana that rarely sees snow falls. Its slopes have forests of pines, oak and beech. Dajti Mountain was declared a National Park in 1966, and has since 2006 an expanded area of about 29,384 ha.     Tirana Area and Other Regions of Albania and Is Now Considered a Leading NGO in Albania in Supporting the Development of Sustainable Lifestyles and Green Economy

    Description of the organization: The Institute for Environmental Policy (IEP) is a non-governmental, non-profit environmental organization founded in November 2008. IEP's general objective is to enhance environmental sustainability in Albania through the implementation of projects aimed to raise awareness among the local population and to formulate environmentally friendly policies in collaboration with local and national authorities. IEP was founded by a group of young experts committed to bringing about positive change after years of environmental degradation and negligence in Albania. IEP members are highly motivated and have the required experience and education to influence the Albanian society towards a sound environmental protection and sustainable living. In its activities, IEP frequently cooperates with other NOGs, local and international experts and volunteers from the local youth. EP has implemented various projects and activities and has experience in awareness raising, trainings, seminars, campaigns and working with youth; this is done connecting different spheres of the Albanian society with a particular attention at the sustainability of activities and processes. IEP has also implemented several public actions on pollution and environmental sustainability with the help of young volunteers in the Tirana area and other regions of Albania and is now considered a leading NGO in Albania in supporting the development of sustainable lifestyles and green economy. IEP was a partner organization with Ethical Links during the "Developing green skills and behaviors" Youth Exchange, organized in Estonia in June 2013. IEP is currently working with local and international young volunteers in IEP, (currently there are two EVS volunteers from Italy, project 2014-3-IT03-KA105-005030), training them on how to manage projects, teaching them environmental management, and is also helping them in learning new foreign languages (in the case of foreign volunteers, the staff of IEP is teaching them Albanian).
