Copenhagen, Denmark, 1990. ISSN 0013-8851. The paper reports on findings of and observations on various Lepidoptera in South and Southwest Greenland during the years of 1967-73 and 1979-83. Each studied lo cality is shortly described. Coleophora alticolella Zell. is reported for the first time from Greenland. BiologicaJ observationson Phyllonorycter sp. (junoniella auct.) are present ed; its larva mines the up per epidermis o f Ledum groenlandicum. The adult differs from P junoniella Zell. in being smaller and having a lighter coloration. A dwarf form o f Operoptera bruceata (Hulst) is discussed; it is found on heathland on the Nanortalik I. H e re the larva feeds especially o n Rumex acetosella and the adults were found 1-2 weeks prior to the emergence o f the normal form. 24 specimens o f Autographa gamma (L.) are record ed; the shape of their gamma-sign varies more than in specimens from Den mark. Agonopterix heracliana (L.), Phthorimaea operculella (Zell. ), Aeteris laterana (F.), and Agtais urticae (L.) are reported as introduced to Greenland for the first time. The faet that an experienced lepidopterist during 12 years of calleeting has been able to find only 30 species ( + 7 introduced species) is considered s tro n g evidence o f the poverty in Lepidoptera of the area dealt with. SUMMARY - Steppic areas of southern Gran Sasso slopes: account on some entomological orders - The Gran Sasso massif has been investigated more from a geological and botanic than zoological point of view. Invertebrates and some Insect orders (Orthoptera, Macrolepidoptera, Hemiptera Heteroptera, Coleoptera) are quite known, but no studies were carried out on entomological fauna of the xeric southern slopes (from Barisciano to Forca di Penne).

HOVERFLY NUMBER 34 NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2002 ISSN 1358-5029 Long-standing readers of this newsletter may wonder what has happened to the lists of references to recent hoverfly literature that used to appear regularly in these pages. Graham Rotheray compiled these when he was editor and for some time afterwards, and more recently they have been provided by Kenn Watt. For some time Kenn trawled for someone else to take over this task from him, but nobody volunteered. Kenn continued to produce the lists, but now no longer has access to the source that provided him with the references. I therefore now make a plea for someone else to agree to take over this role, ideally producing a list of recent literature for each edition of this newsletter (i.e. twice per year), or if that is not possible, for each alternate edition. Failing a reply to this plea, has anyone any suggestions for a reliable source of references to which I could get access in order to compile the list myself? Copy for Hoverfly Newsletter No. 35 (which is expected to be issued in February 2003) should be sent to me: David Iliff, Green Willows, Station Road, Woodmancote, Cheltenham, Glos, GL52 9HN, Email [email protected], to reach me by 20 December. The objectives of the Programme were to provide the long-term unemployed with opportunities to train or re- train, so that they might get more permanent work. This Programme funded a considerable number of environmental jobs, and provided the stepping stone for many ecologists to move into mainstream jobs. I have lost contact with most of the team members of this project, but am aware that at least one (apart from me) went onto a successful career in an ecological discipline. Looking back to the year of 1983-84, it is difficult to appreciate the achievement of the team. We commenced work in September 1983 and were due to report in late August 1984. The timing was unfortunate because we were unable to make best use of the year, with the winter occupying most of the project.

Oise amber has eight species, Baltic amber has 118 species, and Rovno amber has 16 species. Nine new genera and 18 new species are described from Baltic amber. Four new synonyms are noted: Palaeometrioxena Legalov, 2012, syn. nov. is synonymous with Archimetrioxena Voss, 1953; Paleopissodes weigangae Ulke, 1947, syn. nov. is synonymous with Electrotribus theryi Hustache, 1942; Electrotribus erectosquamata Rheinheimer, 2007, syn. nov. is synonymous with Succinostyphlus mroczkowskii Kuska, 1996; Protonaupactus Zherikhin, 1971, syn. nov. is synonymous with Paonaupactus Voss, 1953. Keys for Eocene amber Curculionoidea are given. There are the first records of Aedemonini and Camarotini, and genera Limalophus and Cenocephalus in Baltic amber. Keywords: Coleoptera; Curculionoidea; fossil weevil; new taxa; keys; Palaeogene 1. Introduction The Curculionoidea are one of the largest and most diverse groups of beetles, including more than 62,000 species [1] comprising 11 families [2,3]. They have a complex morphological structure [2–7], ecological confinement, and diverse trophic links [1], which makes them a convenient group for characterizing modern and fossil biocenoses.

  • Moths of Poole Harbour Species List
Moths of Poole Harbour is a project of Birds of Poole Harbour Moths of Poole Harbour Species List Birds of Poole Harbour & Moths of Poole Harbour recording area The Moths of Poole Harbour Project The ‘Moths of Poole Harbour’ project (MoPH) was established in 2017 to gain knowledge of moth species occurring in Poole Harbour, Dorset, their distribution, abundance and to some extent, their habitat requirements. The study area uses the same boundaries as the Birds of Poole Harbour (BoPH) project. Abigail Gibbs and Chris Thain, previous Wardens on Brownsea Island for Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT), were invited by BoPH to undertake a study of moths in the Poole Harbour recording area. This is an area of some 175 square kilometres stretching from Corfe Castle in the south to Canford Heath in the north of the conurbation and west as far as Wareham. 4 moth traps were purchased for the project; 3 Mercury Vapour (MV) Robinson traps with 50m extension cables and one Actinic, Ultra-violet (UV) portable Heath trap running from a rechargeable battery. This was the capability that was deployed on most of the ensuing 327 nights of trapping. Locations were selected using a number of criteria: Habitat, accessibility, existing knowledge (previously well-recorded sites were generally not included), potential for repeat visits, site security and potential for public engagement. Field work commenced from late July 2017 and continued until October. Generally, in the years 2018 – 2020 trapping field work began in March/ April and ran on until late October or early November, stopping at the first frost.

  • Fjärilar I Tinnerö Eklandskap Inventering 2014/15
Man brukar även dela in fjärilarna i storfjärilar (s.k. macros) och småfjärilar (s.k. micros) utefter deras storlek.
