  • Lincolnshire Remembrance User Guide for Submitting Information
How to… submit a war memorial record to 'Lincs to the Past' Lincolnshire Remembrance A guide to filling in the 'submit a memorial' form on Lincs to the Past Submit a memorial Please note, a * next to a box denotes that it needs to be completed in order for the form to be submitted. If you have any difficulties with the form, or have any questions about what to include that aren't answered in this guide please do contact the Lincolnshire Remembrance team on 01522 554959 or [email protected] Add a memorial to the map You can add a memorial to the map by clicking on it. Firstly you need to find its location by using the grab tool to move around the map, and the zoom in and out buttons. If you find that you have added it to the wrong area of the map you can move it by clicking again in the correct location. Memorial name * This information is needed to help us identify the memorial which is being recorded. Including a few words identifying what the memorial is, what it commemorates and a placename would be helpful. For example, 'Roll of Honour for the Men of Grasby WWI, All Saints church, Grasby'. Address * If a full address, including post code, is available, please enter it here. It should have a minimum of a street name: it needs to be enough information to help us identify approximately where a memorial is located, but you don’t need to include the full address. For example, you don’t need to tell us the County (as we know it will be Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire or North East Lincolnshire), and you don’t need to tell us the village, town or parish because they can be included in the boxes below.

PROPOSAL FOR ONE DWELLING at Smithy's Yard (Toynton St Peter) 1. Originally The Smithy, Workshops & Yard consisted of 14 industrial workshops plus yard - industrial storage land OS part 52 (see VOA & ELDC Business rates PDF). The Smithy, Workshops & Yard now consists of 5 industrial workshops A,B,C,D & K (See VOA Plan of Industrial workshops in attachments page 4). The Western part of Smithy's yard has planning permission implemented for one dwelling (see existing block plan). 2. This proposal is for a Modern 4 bed Dormer Bungalow with impressive full-height entrance hallway that includes existing workshop (K) being turned into a single garage using the same external materials in keeping to the dwelling (timber cladding with red corrugated Modern bitumen roofing sheets), using original existing shared access. The external materials to the dwelling will be a red face brick with red/brown Double Roman tile, fully insulated, with grey UPVC double glazed windows, with medium brown timber cladding to frontage (south facing). The timber clad frontage of the dwelling reflects the local distinctiveness of the adjacent Smithy/workshops and the visual affinity of the design of the dwelling implemented on the western part of Smithy's yard. There are no windows East or West over-looking neighbours. Fowl water system Kingspan BioDisc domestic (see Leaflet PDF) position to be decided on. Wheelie Bin storage area by the garage (workshop K). Surface water to soak-a-ways. The house will be run on electric only no gas or fossil fuels with an electrical charging point for vehicles within the garage.

  • THE IMPACT of PAUPER SETTLEMENT 1691-1834* I a Woman Having a Settlement Married a Man with None: the Question Was
James Stephen Taylor Past and Present n° 73, November 1976 THE IMPACT OF PAUPER SETTLEMENT 1691-1834* I A woman having a settlement Married a man with none: The question was. He being dead, If that she had, was gone? Quoth Sir John Pratt — Her settlement Suspended did remain, Living the husband: But, him dead, It doth revive again. Chorus of Puisne Judges Living the husband: But, him dead, It doth revive again. W. S. GILBERT MAY NEVER HAVE KNOWN OF THE KINDRED LYRICIST who wrote this anonymous verse in the early eighteenth century, but his work must have been familiar to those thousands of English- men who had reason to study guides to the statutes and judicial precedents collectively known as the Law of Settlement.1 Very simply, as it obtained between 1691 and 1834, the Law of Settlement (hereafter called the Law) established the circumstances under which an English or Welsh unit of poor law administration (hereafter called the parish) became liable to provide poor relief to an individual, and the legal means of deporting, under certain conditions, the individual (hereafter called the sojourner) who had no legal right to relief from the parish in which he dwelled.2 But the Law was not simple, and generations of lawyers derived income from litigious parish officers, intent on saving their parish from as many paupers as possible. So intricate in its applications, the Law could appear deceptively clear at the outset of a pauper * I wish to thank Professor A. H. John for inviting me to present an earlier version of this essay at a seminar at the Institute of Historical Research, Univ.
