OVERVIEW ADMISSIONS Since 1979, Ed Radzik has been involved almost exclusively in the litigation of New York admiralty and maritime claims. These matters have included claims for cargo loss and 1979 damage, ship collisions, allisions, groundings, shipboard fires and explosions, hull and machinery failures, shipyard repair, pollution, stevedore damage, particular and general average, marine insurance disputes, personal injury and other maritime U.S. of Appeals 2nd claims. Experienced in ADR, he has been appointed as both a mediator and an Circuit arbitrator in a wide range of maritime cases. 1979 Prior to school, Ed had a brief three-year career in the merchant marine sailing as an engineering officer on break bulk vessels, tankers and container ships and calling at ports throughout Asia, the Far East, Northern Europe, East Africa and coastwise in EDUCATION the United States. As a marine engineer and graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime University of New Hampshire Academy, Ed acquired skills in a variety of disciplines, including propulsion systems School of Law, (J.D., 1979) and mechanical engineering, strength of materials and structures, shipboard electricity and marine refrigeration. Drawing from his seagoing experience in the Massachusetts Maritime everyday practice of maritime law, Ed has been able to utilize these skills to better Academy (B.S., 1974) analyze the myriad technical questions that arise in marine casualty litigations.

Ed has been an active member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States and is the former chair and vice chair of the Carriage of Goods Committee. Additionally, he serves as an associate editor of the association's Cargo Newsletter. Ed is currently a member of the Carriage of Goods Committee Working Group studying the United States' anticipated ratification of the UNCITRAL Convention for a new regime for cargo liability that will become known as the Rotterdam Rules.
