Title: A landscape biography of the ‘Land of Drumlins’: Vooremaa, East Estonia Issue date: 2020-12-03 7 Case study 2: Burial sites and natural sacred sites as places of collective memory In this chapter I will take a closer look at three types of sites: 1) Iron Age stone graves 2) Medieval rural cemeteries, and 3) natural sacred sites. The common denominator for these sites, besides archaeologically detectable human remains and artefacts, is the belief in super natural, which is often recorded in local places related folklore. 7.1 Archaeology and place-related folklore The idea of collecting traditional folklore originates from the Romantic movement popular in Europe during the first half of the 19th century, which in Estonia was introduced by Baltic- German scholars and priests. Romantic visions of the primordial and legitimate innocent past have also left their footprint in the Estonian local folk tradition. This is especially relevant when assessing the records collected in the 1920s, when the newly born nation state was in the yearning for a heroic past. For example, the prehistoric hillforts were often associated with the mythical giant-hero Kalevipoeg, who was the protagonist of the Estonian national epic compiled by Friendrich Reinold Kreutzwald and first published in 1862 (Kreutzwald 1862). The published stories of Kalevipoeg started to live their separate lives and became part of related folklore that was (and is) strongly rooted in the local landscape. The Vooremaa region is especially rich in confabulated stories about Kalevipoeg.

Allkiri: Lühikokkuvõte: Lõputöö maht koos lisadega on 62 lehekülge. Töö põhiosa moodustab 53 lehte ja selles on 1 tabel ning 11 joonist. Töö on kirjutatud eesti keeles. Kasutatud kirjanduse ja muude allikate loetellu kuulub 20 nimetust. Töö vormistamisel on aluseks võetud „Kirjalike tööde koostamise ja vormistamise juhend”, kinnitatud rektori 22.10.2009 käskkirjaga nr 6.1-6/212. Töö uurimuse objektiks on eraettevõtjate roll ja panus turvalisuse tagamisel kohaliku omavalitsuse territooriumil ja aines on eraettevõtjad turvalisuse tagamisel. Eesmärgiga v älja selgitada eraettevõtjate roll ja panus turvalisuse tagamisel kohaliku omavalitsuse territooriumil turvalisuse tagamisel. Eesmärgist lähtuvalt on töös püstitatud 2 hüpoteesi. Eraettevõtjad Tartu valla territooriumil: 1) Eraettevõtjad ei panusta vajalikul määral turvalisuse tagamisele Tartu valla territooriumil. 2) Eraettevõtjate roll kogukonna keskel turvalisuse tagamisel ei ole turvalisuse tagamiseks piisav. Hüpoteeside kontrollimiseks kasutas autor statistilist analüüsi ja struktureeritud anketeerimist.

Tänaseks on küllap iga lehelugeja teadlik, et Karksi, Abja ning Halliste vald ja Mõisaküla linn on allkirjastanud ühinemislepingu, kus kirjas, et oktoobrist ollakse juba loodava Mulgi valla liikmed. On võimalik, et sündiva lapsukese nimeks ei saagi Mulgi, vaid hoopis Abja-Mul- gi, Lääne-Mulgi või Halliste-Karksi. Nimelt leidis vabariigi kohanimenõukogu, et nimi Mulgi on geograafiliselt ja ajalooliselt eksitav ning vajab täiendi lisamist. Eelpool esitatud nimed on loetelu kohanimenõukogu poolt soovitatud nimedest. Meie, see tähendab ühinevate omavalitsuste arvates toetab Mulgi valla nimi ko- hanimeseaduses esitatud nõuet, mille järgi tuleb eelistada nime, mis on paikkonnas tuntud ja levinud ning on oluline aja- ja kultuurilooliselt. Kuivõrd loodav omava- litsus ei hakka hõlmama kogu Mulgimaad, vaid ainult selle keeleliselt läänemulgi murrakurühma jäävat piirkonda, soovime omavalitsuse nimeks Mulgi vald, mitte Mulgimaa vald. Näiteks varasemalt on kohanimenõukogu poolt heaks kiidetud Hiiu valla nimi. Hiiu vald ei hõlma samuti kogu Hiiumaad. Nüüd soovivad taaskord ühinevad hiidlased valla nimeks Hiiumaa valda ning sellele pole kohanimenõukogu heakskiitu andnud. Me ei pretendeeri Mulgimaa nime kasutamisele, ent Mulgi val- Palju õnne, Karksi vald! la nime kasutamist piirkonnas peame igati õigustatuks. Halliste vallas asub Mulgi küla, Abja kandis oli vanasti mitu Mulgi nime kandvat küla – raske on nõustuda Palju õnne sünnipäevaks kogu vallarah- ning võimalused eneseteostuseks on elavad sooja südamega mulgid. Mulgi väitega, et nimi Mulgi on geograafiliselt eksitav. vale! Tänane Karksi vald tähistab oma laiemad. Seetõttu on paljud tegusad kultuuri arendamise mõju on kujunenud Mulgi nimelise valla vastu ei ole meile teadaolevalt ka teiste Mulgimaa piir- kahekümne viiendat ja viimast aasta- inimesed asunud mujale elama ja tööle.
