Francuski imagolog Daniel-Henri Pageaux tvrdi kako se odnos Ja i Drugi najbolje vidi kroz tri razine imagološke analize: leksičku, strukturalnu i semiološku analizu. Ključne riječi: imagologija, predodžbe, Ja, Drugi, orijentalizam, okcidentalizam Pierre Loti and Ahmet Mithat Efendi: An Imagological Analysis of a novel by a French and Ottoman writer from the end of the 19th century Abstract Imagology is a branch of comparative literature that studies national and cross-national perceptions and images as expressed in literary discourse. French imagologist Daniel-Henri Pageaux states that the relationship between Self and Other is best seen trough three phases of imagological analysis: lexical, structural and semiological analysis. The novel Aziyadé by the French writer Pierre Loti and the travelogue Avrupa'da bir cevelan by Ottoman writer Ahmet Mithat Efendi, published in the late 19th century, at a time of rapid technological development and colonial expansion, are analyzed in this paper according to Pageaux's theoretical and methodological postulates. The analysis reveals similarities and differences in the structure of the work, but also in the way of thinking of the French and Ottoman traveler and writer of the second half of the 19th century. Francusko-osmanski

Thirty years after the end of state socialism, an open public discourse and the free interaction between producers and consumers of historical culture continues to be an embattled public good. Especially over the past decade, it has been increasingly challenged by economic and administrative constrains, but most of all by ideological and legislative interventions that aimed at determining what people can learn about, and how they make sense of historical legacies and meanings.

HOWARD AND CZEKAJ RUSSIA’S RUSSIA’S MILITARY STRATEGY MILITARY AND DOCTRINE STRATEGY Russia’s Military Strategy and Doctrine is designed to educate Russia watchers, AND DOCTRINE STRATEGY RUSSIA’S MILITARY policymakers, military leaders, and the broader foreign policy community about the Russian AND DOCTRINE Armed Forces and security apparatus across the full spectrum of geographic, doctrinal and domain areas. Each chapter addresses a different strategic-level issue related to the Russian military, ranging from “hybrid” warfare doctrine, to the role nuclear weapons play in its strategy, to cyber and electromagnetic warfare, to Moscow’s posture in the Arctic or the Black Sea, to the lessons its Armed Forces have learned from their ongoing operations in Syria and eastern Ukraine. And each section of the book is written by one of the world’s foremost experts on that theme of Russia’s military development. ■■■ The key questions emphasized by this book include “how Russia fights wars” and “how its experiences with modern conflicts are shaping the evolution of Russia’s military strategy, capabilities and doctrine.” The book’s value comes not only from a piecemeal look at granular Russian strategies in each of the theaters and domains where its Armed Forces may act, but more importantly this study seeks to present a unifying description of Russia’s military strategy as a declining but still formidable global power. Russia’s Military Strategy and Doctrine will be an essential reference for US national security thinkers, NATO defense planners and policymakers the world over who must deal with the potential military and security challenges posed by Moscow.

WELCOME TO COPENHAGEN AND TO THE SECOND ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE MEMORY STUDIES ASSOCIATION! Dear Colleagues: We are delighted to welcome you to the second annual meeting of the Memory Studies Association! After the successful Amsterdam conference last year, we felt even more keen- ly that there was a great demand for opportunities to debate where the study of memory is headed. In 2017, we were once again overwhelmed by the extraordinary response we received to our Call for Papers for Copenhagen. Tis year’s conference with 600 attend- ees is three times bigger than last year’s! Our conference program promises to provide many engaging discussions and opportu- nities for meeting like-minded scholars and practitioners in our growing feld. We have planned a variety of panels – all of them meant to encourage lively debate between pan- elists and audience. Turbo and poster sessions provide the opportunity to spark one-on- one conversations between researchers and interested scholars. We have organized events to address practical and professional development questions faced by memory scholars, such as on methodology, career strategies, pedagogy, and the use of multiple languages in memory studies. We are also thinking about how we can provide assistance and soli- darity to refugee scholars and scholars at risk in the countries where they work. And we have assembled roundtables and keynotes that bring together many of the most exciting personalities in memory studies to debate pressing questions of theoretical innovation, real world impact, and the future of our feld. Most importantly, we have built in lots of opportunities to meet informally, over cofee, lunch, movies, and dinner groups.

Scientific Journal in Humanities, 1(1):23-29,2012 ISSN:2298-0245 Translations of A. S. Pushkin’s Works into Turkish from “The Queen of Spades” to the “Secret Dairy”1 Ilyas ÜSTÜNYER* Abstract The most important point between Turkish and Russian Cultural relations is the literary relations. And generally, intercultural circu- lation of literature is actualized through interpretations. The date of literary interpretations which were translated from Russian Literature to Turkish Literature goes back to the end of 19th century. The most remarkable works among those interpretations are A. S. Pushkin`s. It is thought-provoking that, the genres of the inter- pretations which were translated from his works offer parallelism to the processes of Turkish Literature that it passed through. In this article, the works of A.S. Pushkin were being translated into Turkish throughout the 20th century, interpreters, and publishing houses are going to be studied through prism of the social platforms that Turkey passed through.
