While in Malaysia, although the relationship between the Muslims and Buddhists remains in harmony, there is a certain perception among Buddhists towards Islam. Hence, this article will discuss the forms of Buddhism's perception of Islam in Malaysia. The study was qualitative using document analysis. The study found that particular group of Buddhists in Malaysia had a negative perception of Islam, particularly on the implementation of Islamization policy by the government and the Islamic resurgence movement in Malaysia. • Taman Negara National Park in Malaysia
Taman Negara National Park in Malaysia Entrance of the Taman Negara National Park of Malaysia Explore the secrets of the impenetrable, umbrageous, and wettish woodlands of the Taman Negara National Park. It is, in fact, the very first and the oldest prescribed protected area in Malaysia. The park was initially christened ‘King George V National Park’. During King George's Silver Jubilee in 1938, the Sultans of Kelantan, Pahang, and Terengganu designated Taman Negara as a reserved area. It became imperative to preserve the land's pristine nature in sempiternity. In 1957, the park was renamed as Taman Negara. The verdant park boasts of some of the most complex and copious ecosystems in the world. Amidst the labyrinth of ancient trees, you might spot different species of snakes, including reticulated pythons, redheaded kraits, dog-toothed cat snakes, and temple pit vipers. Other animals that are seen prancing in the woodlands are monkeys, tigers, rhinos, elephants, lizards, etc. Extremely rare species of the flying squirrel reside stealthily in the park, so that the visitors don’t see them easily. The lush green foliage veils them. Some of the exotic floral species in the park comprise the world’s largest flower giant Rafflesia, orchids, dwarf luminescent fungi, and two-tone ferns. You need to have a mettle for perambulating in the forest as you may get surprises in the form of flying or crawling insects and the ever-pervading leeches. Where is Taman Negara National Park? Taman Negara is located in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. You can reach the park by train.

  • Malaysia Singapore & Brunei
© Lonely Planet 90 Kuala Lumpur KUALA LUMPUR Kuala Lumpur’s metamorphosis from the jungle hovel of tin prospectors to a gleaming 21st- century city of high-rises and highways seems like a triumph of man over nature. However, peer down on KL (as it’s commonly known) from the bird’s-eye height of Menara KL and it’s clear that nature continues to fight back: this remains one of the greenest cities in Southeast Asia and is all the better for it. The blueprint was set early by the British who, in their colonial wisdom, crafted the Lake Gardens. This lush lung remains intact, as does the hillock of rainforest on which Menara KL rests and the old cricket field (now Merdeka Square) on which independence was declared back in 1957. The iconic Petronas Towers were developed alongside a beautifully landscaped park and to the north of the city more greenery surrounds Lake Titiwangsa. In its built environment, few cities can compare to KL for diversity and daring. Imagine Fritz Lang’s Metropolis crossed with an Arabian Nights Moorish fantasy and you begin to grasp a place where Chinese, Indian, Malay and contemporary structures coalesce into a fascinating whole. The cream of Malaysian creativity can be experienced here also in the traditional crafts and cutting-edge art, design and fashion that can be found in KL’s abundant malls and markets. Each ethnic community brings something to the table – most importantly in a delicious array of cuisines that make dining out the stellar experience in this star Southeast Asian urban performer.

  • Chap Goh Meh
MEDIA INFO CHAP GOH MEH The Chinese New Year marks the start of a new beginning for the Chinese. For some families, this is the only time of the year when all the family members have a chance to sit down for dinner together and to meet old friends and relatives. However, all things wonderful will eventually come to an end. As the eve of Chinese New Year is celebrated with a big bang, the climax of this festival is also a grand affair. On 22 February, the Chinese will observe the Lantern Festival, or Chap Goh Meh, the Hokkien term for the 15th night of the new year. This day is also known as Yuan Xiao Jie, an important festival signifying the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations. As in other celebrations, there are many legends and stories about the traditions and celebrations of Chap Goh Meh. According to folklore, during ancient times, young girls were forbidden to go out except on Chap Goh Meh when they could visit temples accompanied by their maids. For the guys, it is the chance for them to catch a glimpse of these lovely maidens. This explains why Chap Goh Meh is also regarded as the Chinese Valentine’s Day. On the night of Chap Goh Meh, unmarried girls will throw tangerines in the sea or river in the belief that they will be able to marry good husbands. But in this age of information technology, this tradition is slowly dying out, particularly in major towns of the country. However, those who would like to witness the lively atmosphere of the Chap Goh Meh celebrations can visit Thean Hou Temple in Kuala Lumpur.
