ITINERARY

Day 1 – Tuesday, June 16: Quebec City, Canada

Air Journey and your journey director will greet you at the Chateau Frontenac Hotel. All participants will meet for introductions and to attend an extensive briefing covering the general procedures of our journey.

Day 2 – Wednesday, June 17: Quebec City  Schefferville, Canada  Kangerlussuaq, Greenland 510 + 870 NM

We will fly over the immense forests and numerous lakes of Labrador on our way to Schefferville for a technical stop. Then continue over southern Greenland’s beautiful scenery before landing at Kangerlussuaq. Because we will be approaching the Arctic Circle and the “land of the midnight sun”, we will have an astonishing 21 hours of daylight!

Day 3 – Thursday, June 18: Kangerlussuaq  Reykjavik, Iceland 730 NM

Fly over ice-covered Greenland and then do our second water crossing. Upon arrival, we’ll transfer to the Hotel Borg where we will enjoy luxury accommodations in the very center of Reykjavik. The Hotel Borg overlooks the beautiful square of Austurvöllur, and is situated across from Althingi, the Icelandic parliament and the cathedral.

After dinner at the hotel, you may want to venture on your own to experience the local nightlife.

Day 4 – Friday, June 19: Reykjavik  Stavanger, Norway  Warsaw, Poland 845 + 660 NM

Fly to Warsaw. There will be a technical stop in Stavanger, Norway.

Day 5 – Saturday, June 20: Warsaw

Meet our local guide for a city tour of Warsaw. Sites include the of Culture; Radziwill Palace, where the beloved composer Frederic Chopin gave his first concert; the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier; the Grand Theatre; and Constitution Square.

Day 7 – Monday, June 22: Warsaw  , Hungary 290 NM

Fly to Budapest – the jewel of the Danube. Straddling the romantic Danube River, Budapest is the most beautiful city in central Europe. The human legacy is just as remarkable as Mother Nature’s. Architecturally, Budapest is a gem, with enough baroque, neoclassical, Eclectic and (or Secessionist) buildings to satisfy anyone’s appetite. The city’s history dates back to the Celtic civilization of Aquincum whose ruins can be found in Budapest.

Day 8 – Tuesday, June 23: Budapest

Explore Budapest’s two regions: Buda, the western bank’s historic Castle District; and Pest, the commercial district and seat of government. See all the sights including Hero’s Square, Parliament House, Gellert Hill, and Fisherman’s Bastion.

Day 9 – Wednesday, June 24: Budapest  Bodrum, Turkey 715 NM

Fly to Bodrum - situated on the southern Aegean coast of Turkey. This fabled coastline is where Homer’s heroes were born, where the ancient Greeks consulted their oracles and the Romans built magnificent temples to honour their gods. Amanruya is set on a peaceful hillside, offering breathtaking views of the sea and a winding pathway leading to a sheltered pebble beach.

Day 10 – Thursday, June 25: Bodrum

Today we will visit Bodrum’s fascinating Museum of Underwater Archaeology, housed in a former castle and containing many artifacts salvaged from area shipwrecks.

Day 11 – Friday, June 26: Bodrum  Jerusalem, Israel 495 NM

Fly to Jerusalem - gateway to archaeological and anthropological wonders including the museum, Yad Vashem, Bethlehem, Masada and the Dead Sea.

Day 12 – Saturday, June 27: Jerusalem

By private walking tour we’ll explore the highlights of the Old City of Jerusalem. We’ll visit the Western Wall; view the Temple Mount with El Aksa Mosque and Dome of the Rock. Walk through the four quarters of the city (Christian, Muslim, Jewish and Armenian) and visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. As we head to Mount Zion to view the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, the traditional tomb of King David and the room where the Last Supper is believed to have taken place we will pass through the Zion Gate.

Day 13 – Sunday, June 28: Jerusalem

We’ll follow the shores of the Dead Sea to the legendary ruins of Masada, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by King Herod between 37 and 31 BC. This cliff-top fortress was the last stronghold of the Jewish Zealots who fled Jerusalem rather than submit to Roman rule during the First Jewish-Roman War in the 1st century AD. A cable car brings us to the top of the mountain to explore the site and learn the history from over 2,000 years ago. See King Herod’s and baths.

On our return there will be time to float in the famous salt- rich waters of the Dead Sea.

Day 14 – Monday, June 29: Jerusalem

Today is at leisure to relax or explore on your own.

Day 15 – Tuesday, June 30: Jerusalem  Heraklion, Greece 545 NM

Fly to Heraklion on the Greek island of Crete. The Elounda Beach Hotel, situated on a secluded bay protected by barrier islands with majestic mountains for a backdrop, is an exclusive resort where we’ll enjoy some relaxation.

Day 16 – Wednesday, July 1: Heraklion

Today is at leisure to relax or explore on your own. A visit to the hotel’s acclaimed spa Thalaspa Chenot for some peace and quiet is optional!

Dinner is not included tonight so you can enjoy one of the nine world class restaurants located at the resort.

Day 17 – Thursday, July 2: Heraklion

Today is at leisure to relax or explore on your own.

Optional water sports include water-skiing, sailing, windsurfing, wave runners (jet ski), and a range of towable toys.

Day 18 – Friday, July 3: Heraklion  Vienna, Austria 855 NM

Our flight continues to Austria to discover one of the most beautiful cities in Europe - Vienna. Home to some of the most beautiful Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo architecture in the world, here you will find the houses of Vienna’s great composers, including Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Haydn, Brahms and Johann Strauss, all carefully preserved.

Day 19 – Saturday, July 4: Vienna

Meet our local guide for a walking tour of Old Town with its St. Stephen's Cathedral, Austria's most eminent Gothic edifice, housing a wealth of art treasures. After lunch we’ll visit the grandiose 17th century Schloss Schöenbrunn Palace – a former imperial 1,441-room Rococo summer residence. The palace and gardens illustrate the tastes, interests, and aspirations of successive Habsburg monarchs.

Day 20 – Sunday, July 5: Vienna  Berlin, Germany 295 NM

Fly to Berlin. A turbulent history and vibrant cultural highlights make Berlin to one of the most fascinating metropolis in the world. Around 800 years ago Berlin was founded as a small village. Unfortunately, hardly anything remains from this time.

Day 21 – Monday, July 6: Berlin

Enjoy Berlin through a comprehensive, panoramic tour of the city’s history, architecture and culture with our local private guide.

Day 22 – Tuesday, July 7: Berlin  Wick, Scotland  Reykjavik, Iceland 660 + 640 NM

After an in-depth briefing, we will launch for our over-water crossing to Iceland.

Day 23 – Wednesday, July 8: Reykjavik  Kangerlussuaq, Greenland  Goose Bay, Canada  Bangor, ME 730 + 870 + 610 NM

After an in-depth briefing, we will head back to the US where we will clear customs and spend the night in Bangor, Maine.

Day 24 – Thursday, July 9: Bangor  Home

We will go our separate ways as we head home today.

Our land program does not include:  Travel insurance (Travel insurance is high recommended. Conditions:  Valid passport is a must.  No vaccinations or visas are required for this tour.  Dry suits are mandatory and can be rented with the assistance of Air Journey.

Please note that hotel accommodations and sightseeing are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. Air Journey reserves the right to amend the order of sightseeing as necessary. Every effort will be made to operate tours as planned, but alterations may occur after the final itinerary has been issued.

Our quoted prices include planning, handling and operational charges; they are based on current rates of exchange, tariffs and taxes as of March 2014. Air Journey reserves the right to increase tour prices to cover increased costs, tariffs and taxes, and to reflect fluctuations in foreign exchange markets.

Survival equipment is available for rental on a daily basis and will be waiting for you at our departure point. Life vests and life raft are mandatory. Dry suits are mandatory for single engine aircraft. Contact us for more details.

Air Journey has quoted this itinerary with a minimum participation of 5 airplanes

The Registration fee includes:  Extensive Navigation log (airports, route, frequencies, information of airspace, nav-aids, reporting points, international flight plan) tailored for each aircraft;  Flight plans and eAPIS manifest (departure and arrival) filed on your behalf;  Pilot briefing prior to each day’s flight;  Weather website with constant updates showing TAF, METAR, Wind Aloft, prognostic forecast and review;  Fuel availability confirmed along the route of flight;  VFR charts, IFR low or high en route (based on aircraft type and pilot’s preferences);  Flight bag, a fleece lined jacket, and a collared, cotton shirt for the pilot with his name and aircraft tail number embroidered on the upper front. Additional jackets and shirts are included for each passenger.

Cancellation Policy: a) Cancellation by the client: Is always required in writing and is subject to the following schedule of dates, whereby some or all moneys paid will be retained: i) Given outside of 90 days of departure: AJ retains $500 per person and plane registration fee ii) Between 90 and 60 days of departure: AJ retains 50% of tour cost and plane registration fee iii) Between 59 and 45 days of departure: AJ retains 75% of tour cost and plane registration fee iv) Less than 45 days or no show of departure: AJ retains 100% of tour cost and plane registration fee

Note: Travel and Cancellation Insurance is strongly recommended and is not included in the package but it can be purchased from Air Journey for about 6% of the cost of the Journey.

Also note: Air Journey reserves the right to cancel because of lack of participants (less than 5 airplanes), political unrest, terrorism, or severe weather forecast, in which case Air Journey will issue a full refund.
