Crossed keeps crossing and I keep paying.By DethklokJust got this today and read it in one sitting. Worth the money. The middle story 'The Livers' felt like the weakest out of the three. It's a continuation of the Amanda story arc from Crossed: Psychopath and doesn't really pop. Maybe it's because it tries to mix personal insanity with the general Crossed insanity and comes off kind of bland instead of sharp and hard hitting. Hopefully any future Crossed stories with the Amanda character will balance better. The Garth Ennis story which is the beginning, 'The Fatal Englishman' was good, if kind of preachy at times. Ennis still delivers and I own other comics he's done, so the man puts in work. The one that made this book was the last story by Si Spurrier, who is doing the Crossed: Wish You Were Here webcomic which I love. He does 'Conquers All', a Crossed love story that hits all the Crossed checkmarks. Si's story is why I bought this book.Looking forward to Crossed Vol. 7!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Read Crossed: Psychopath first!By Anthony O'MaryLoaded with content. One of the biggest trades to date with quality matching quantity. Fantastic read. Includes three arcs. The Fatal Englishmen was a fantastic read with an arc style that I've been wanting for a while. If you started to wonder "where's all the super soldiers and what are they doing" here's your answer. Fantastic story. The Livers arc follows a key character from the Psychopath arc and was a very welcome update that took a turn I never expected that dives primarily into mental condition rather than strict physical survival. I'm happy to see they kept this character alive in the lore and performed so well in her follow up.Then the final arc. A short sweet very satisfying extra story that leaves you a slight sense of wonderment and really makes this Trade a necessity.Conquers All is a love story unlike any you've ever seen. I'll save the rest for you to discover, just know it's great. This would make a killer short film.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A smart series that is definitely for a very mature audience.By Randomized User #113Garth Ennis does it again. This is a great series. The subject matter is very twisted, gory, and perverse, this will not be for everyone. That being said it does a good job of conveying the troubles and strife of the survivors. The survivors are not a bunch of superhero gun nuts but a huge cross-section of personalities and that lends itself well to continued reading. In a volume that spans several eras of Crossed infection, we join three prolific writers each telling a tale set in the horrifying misery of the world during the plague. Simon Spurrier puts us in the mind of a unique Crossed relationship, one which sees lovers from two different worlds as they are driven apart by infection. David Lapham continues fan favorite Crossed Psychopath survivor, Amanda’s tale as she fights with the rising insanity in her own mind and a group of lunatic scavengers in “The Livers.” And series creator Garth Ennis returns to tell a story so big that it re- defines the way you will see the Crossed. In “The Fatal Englishman” the biggest question in the Crossed universe is answered…how it all begins. Go where other horror survival stories fear to tread and enter the grueling world of the Crossed! Trade collects issues #19-28 of the Crossed Badlands series.
