With over 600 aircraft we maintain one of the world’s largest and most modern group fleets.

We invest continuously in modernising our fleet. By 2025, 251 new aircraft will have been brought into service, including 59 ultramodern Boeing 777-9X and -900 long-haul aircraft. A pilot in SAS starts a career as on one of our short haul aircraft.

Promotion to Captain is always done on short haul and is preceded by a Captain Course.

Including retraining, pilots undergo an average of two weeks training each year. SAS has also introduced iPads for pilots

End of January 2016 SWISS started replacing its current A340-300 fleet with nine larger aircraft of the Boeing 777-300ER series and will set new benchmarks in terms of its customers’ inflight comfort.

First: Personal at-seat wardrobe, electro-mechanical window shades, large 32-inch video screen, second screen integrated into the handset, second lavatory

Business: New table for easier handling, large 16-inch video screen, second screen, more stowage space for personal belongings, modular seating (with double and single seats)

Economy: Maximum comfort with the latest seat- cushion technology, more legroom, large 11-inch touchscreen with USB and audio port, touchscreen instead of remote control device, cup and smartphone holders

Our Flight Simulators

THAI operates a total of eight -D full flight simulators including A300-600, B747-400, B737-400, B777-200/300, B777ER, A330-300, A340-600 and A380-800. In addition, Maintenance Flight Training Devices (MFTD) A330 and A340 are also available for more basic aspects of instruction.
