[email protected] New York, August 2012 BrazilFoundation Commemorates its 10th Gala in New York City To celebrate nearly a decade-long tradition of the event, the foundation examines the past and looks toward the future during a dinner benefit on September 19th at the American Museum of Natural History. New York – It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the tenth edition of the BrazilFoundation Gala, that will be on September 19th at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. Almost ten years after the first Annual Gala in 2003, we have surpassed 7 thousand supporters, who are responsible for raising close to $18 million dollars and supporting more than 300 social initiatives in 26 Brazilian states. “There were many challenges BrazilFoundation faced in opening new avenues to philanthropy. The most important was to earn the confidence of the individuals, companies, and civil society organizations that transform into volunteers, donors, and partnerships. There is an immense pride in seeing the foundation name become known for its work that translates into support for the social entrepreneurs spread throughout various Brazilian states”, comments the President and Founder Leona Forman. To mark the special date, BrazilFoundation will honor one of the visionaries of the event with Leona: psychologist Malu Millerman. A native of São Paulo, she has lived in New York since 1993, when her husband Sergio Millerman received a job offer to live in the city. “It has been a pleasure to be a part of the great success that the Gala has reached and to further the great mission of supporting social projects in Brazil”, she says.
