The suffragette is a british historic film written and directed by , released in 2015. The filming began on 24th February 2014. The mains are , , Anne-Marie Duff and . I chose this movie because a year ago, with our English teacher we watched the trailer and then the film. Watching the trailer was already very interesting. At the beginning of the trailer, I immediately liked the genre of the film: the actions, suspense, sadness that were present all along this movie. In this movie we can see the mains characters, Maud Watts, , Edith New and Violet Miller. The story is unbelievable. It’s about women and their rights. This film talks about the movement which was created in 1903 in Britain. It shows its way of actions based on provocation and which transcend the rules of the society.

In this film, we see that the women win their fight when Emily Davison, a suffragist, was killed while trying to hang a scarf in protest around the King George V’s horse, who was participating in a derby. It is really a fascinating film, that I really liked. It shows us that the women’s lives have been very complicated in the past and that they had to fight to reach the rights they have now.

Finally, women had to fight for many years to obtain their rights. The situation still evolves today. Women who have fought for their rights should be considered as heroes.
