EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Ordinary Earth mining Removal from the proposed construction site for Kondody Prefab Concrete Pvt. Ltd. of Mr. Tijo Joseph is located at Re-Survey No. 134/3 Block No. 13, Thottakkad Village, Vakathanam Gramma Panchayat, Changanassery Taluk, Kottayam District, Kerala in an area of 0.9694 hectare. The land for the proposed quarry is a private owned land (pandaravaka pattom and purayidam as per the land records) and the land is possessed in the name of Mr. Tijo Joseph and the copy of Possession Certificate Land Tax Receipt issued by Village Officer is attached at Annexure No. 1 and Annexure No. 2 respectively
Ordinary Earth project, having lease area less than5 hectares, as per Office Memorandum vide No.L-110:1/47/2011-I.A.-II (M) dated: 24/06/2013 Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India classified as Category B2. Further, as per Notification S.O. 141 (E) dated 15/01/2016 of Ministry and Environment, Forests & Climate Change all the application of mining projects for Environment Clearance of Category B2 will be appraised by District Expert Appraisal Committee (DEAC) and approved by District Environment Impact Assessment Authority (DEIAA).

1.2 PRODUCTION & RESERVE
The estimated ordinary earth to be excavated and removed will be 8,472 Cubic Meters from the site. The soil is mainly consists of laterite soil. The bulk density of laterite soil varies from 1.3 to 1.7 g/cc. or 1700 kg/m3. Considering a bulk density of 1.5 g/cc total estimated amount of ordinary earth to be excavated and removed will be 12,708 Tons. It is expected to employ about 6 persons for the excavation project.

INTRODUCTION TO THE PROJECT
2.1 IDENTIFICATION OF PROJECT AND PROJECT PROPONENT
This project report is prepared for obtaining Environmental Clearance from District Environmental Impact Assessment Authority for the ordinary earth removal from the proposed construction site of Kondody Prefab Concrete Pvt. Ltd. The land is owned by Mr. Tijo Joseph and this project is proposed by Mr. Tijo Joseph as owner and applicant. Total area of the project is 0.9694 has and it is located at Re-Survey No. 134/3 Block No. 13, Thottakkad Village, Vakathanam Gramma Panchayat, Changanassery Taluk, Kottayam District, Kerala.

2.2 NATURE OF THE PROJECT Ordinary earth removal is a sub project of Kondody Prefab Concretes Pvt. Ltd., for which Layout approval has been obtained from Town Planer. As well as the main project already obtained NOC from fire department and Consent to Establish from Kerala State Pollution Control Board The copy of Layout Approval Letter, NOC from Fire Department and Consent from Kerala State Pollution Control Board is attached as Annexure No. 11 , Annexure No. 12 and Annexure No. 13 respectively. The project is for the excavation and removal of ordinary earth of 12,708 Tons and excavation is carried out in the proposed area of 0.9694 hectare. The excavated soil will be sold to the approved PWD Contractors for the road and other development works

2.3 NEED FOR THE PROJECT This proposed ordinary earth mining is an integral part of the proposed project named. Kondody Prefab Concrete Pvt. Ltd. meant for the construction of prefabricated concrete structures for roads, bridges etc. Though the project is a small ordinary earth mining project, the excavated earth will be used for road and construction site leveling. The basic objective of the project is the effective utilization of mineral wealth in the country or region. Further, the ordinary earth is the most commonly used in roads, railway lines & building construction development projects. The excavated earth will be used only for the developmental activities near the project site.
2.4 DEMAND – SUPPLY GAP Since it is showing a growth or increase in the real estate activities and in other infrastructure development activities, the demand of ordinary earth for leveling the site is highly increase. By this project a few extent of supply can be met. There for there is requirement of ordinary earth removed from this project site.
2.5 IMPORTS VS. INDIGENOUS PRODUCTION Ordinary earth product is an indigenous production. So ordinary earth is neither exported nor imported. The excavated ordinary earth will be sold out with in the domestic market only.
2.6 EMPLOYMENT GENERATION There will be direct or indirect employment generation due to this project. The total numbers of employees including skilled, semiskilled and un-skilled workers for the project is expected to be about 8 persons in which is exclusively for excavation of ordinary earth.

3.1 TYPE OF PROJECT INCLUDING INTERLINKED AND INTERDEPENDENT PROJECTS This is a semi mechanized open cast ordinary earth excavation project. This project is an integral part of a major project call Kondody Prefab Concretes Pvt. Ltd., which is meant for the manufacturing of pre cast slabs, culverts, tanks, retaining walls, man holes ets. Though the sub project is a small ordinary earth removal project, the excavated earth will be used for site leveling. The basic objective of the project is the effective utilization of mineral wealth in the region
3.2 PROJECT LOCATION the proposed construction site for Kondody Prefab Concrete Pvt. Ltd. of Mr. Tijo Joseph is located at Re-Survey No. 134/3 Block No. 13, Thottakkad Village, Vakathanam Gramma Panchayat, Changanassery Taluk, Kottayam District, Kerala in an area of 0.9694 hectare.

3.3 EVALUATION OF ALTERNATIVES This project report is specifically for the removal of ordinary earth from a proposed construction site for settling up prefabricated structures manufacturing industry, hence no site was examined. More over the land is a private owned land and hence no alternative site.
3.4 PROJECT DESCRIPTION In this project the ordinary earth excavation is meant by machineries such as earth movers and excavators. Excavated material shall be transported the designated places or end user.
3.5 SIZE OR MAGNITUDE OF OPERATION The size and magnitude of the lease area is as given below:-

3.6 RAW MATERIAL REQUIRED ALONG WITH ESTIMATED QUANTITY, LIKELY SOURCE, MARKETING AREA OF FINAL PRODUCT/S, MODE OF TRANSPORT OF RAW MATERIAL AND FINISHED PRODUCT No raw material will be required for excavation of ordinary earth. The final product will be sent to consumer site on their demand. The mode of transportation of raw material and finished product will be by road only. Tippers/trucks will be used for transportation to the end users.
3.7 MINERAL TRANSPORTATION Loading of mineral from the site will be done by excavator and will be sent to the end users in Trucks / Tippers. It is expected that 10-12 trips will be required on daily basis. On an averge 1-2 Trucks per hour will be moved from the site. Thus, the impact due to movement of trucks from excavation site will be minimal and well within the carrying capacity of the roads.

3.8 RESOURCE OPTIMIZATION / RECYCLING AND REUSE Excavated earth will be utilized and sent for use to different end users for road and building construction works. The water requirement for sprinkling on sources of dust emission, roads and for landscaping purposes can be met from the stored rain water pond and thereby conserve the fresh water.
3.9 AVAILABILITY OF WATER ITS SOURCE, ENERGY /POWER REQUIREMENT AND SOURCE The total water requirement for the proposed activity is 1.75 KLD. The detailed breakup of the same is given below:-

The water required will be sourced from the stored rain water / treated water from STP through tankers. However, the drinking water will be sourced from the water jars / containers confirming the Drinking Water Quality Standards as per IS 10500.
3.10 POWER The power used for running the machines will be through Diesel Engine.
3.11 QUANTITY OF WASTES TO BE GENERATED (LIQUID AND SOLID) AND SCHEME FOR THEIR MANAGEMENT / DISPOSAL • No solid waste will be generated from the project site as the fully excavated material will be outsourced to the end user. • No domestic solid or liquid waste generated from the site as no accommodation will be provided to the workers, as the workers will be hired locally for limited hours only. • Dust during excavation & loading will be generated from the site and will be managed through water sprinklers

• No effluent will be generated from the ordinary earth excavation site, as the water will be used for domestic consumption (drinking & hand /mouth washing) & sprinkling purposes only.

4.2 LANFORM, LAND USE AND LAND OWNERSHIP 4.2.1 LANDFORM The proposed ordinary earth site is covering an area of 0.9694 ha. The lease area is private own land. The lease area is devoid of any transmission lines, streams / canals, forests, habitation, etc.
4.2.2 LAND OWNERSHIP The land as per revenue records is a private own land and the copy of possession certificate is enclosed with this application.
4.2.3 TOPOGRAPHY (ALONG WITH MAP) The land of the proposed project is containing large quantity of ordinary earth, the topography of the site is some sloppy land and slope is towards North side with rubber plantation, grass, climbers, bushes etc.

4.4 EXISTING INFRASTRUCTURE The existing infrastructure around the project site includes tarred roads, electricity supply from Kerala Electricity Board, water supply from Kerala Water Authority / Panchayat supply, storm water drains along the roads available within ½ km radius.
4.5 SOIL CLASSIFICATION The soil types occurring in Kottayam district can be broadly grouped into four types on the basis of their physico-chemical properties and morphological features. They are (a) Lateritic soil. (b) Riverine alluvium, (c) Brown hydromorphic, and (d) Forest loams.
Lateritic Soil:- The lateritic soil is the pre-dominant soil type, which covers almost the entire midland areas of the Kottayam district. The surface soil is mostly reddish brown to yellowish red in colour and the texture ranges from gravelly loam to gravelly clay loam. Heavy rainfall and high temperature prevalent in the area are conducive to the process of formation of this soil type. It is well drained and the presence of organic content is low. This soil is poor in nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium. It is acidic in nature with a pH value ranging from 5.0 to 6.2.

Riverine alluvium: -The occurrence of these soils is restricted along the river courses and their tributaries. They show wide variation in their physico-chemical properties depending on the nature of the alluvium that is deposited and the characteristics of the catchments area drained by the river. They are very deep soils with surface textures ranging from sandy loam to clay loam. These soils are characterised by moderate amount of organic matter, nitrogen and potassium. Presence of mica flakes has been observed in the alluvial soils.
Brown hydromorphic soil:- These soils are mostly confined to valley bottoms between undulating topography in the midland and in low-lying areas. They have been formed as a result of transportation and sedimentation of material from adjoining hill slopes and also through deposition by local streams. These soils are very deep and brownish in colour and exhibiting wide variation in physico-chemical properties and morphological features. The surface soil texture varies from sandy loam to clay. Their pH value ranges between 5.2 and 6.4 and are acidic in nature.
Forest loam: - These soils are the products of weathering of crystalline rocks under forest cover. They are occurring in the eastern hilly areas. These are dark reddish brown to black in colour. The surface texture varies from loam to silt loam. They are characterised by a surface layer very rich in organic matter. Generally they are acidic, rich in nitrogen and their pH ranging from 5.5 to 6.3. (Source: District Survey Report, Department of Mining & Geology, Govt. of Kerala )
4.6 CLIMATIC DATA The normal rainfall of the district is 2931 mm based on 1901-1999 data and the major contribution of rainfall is during South West monsoon followed by the North East monsoon. The analysis of rainfall data reveals thatthe distribution of rainfall increases from west to east. The highest rainfall recorded at Pala while the lowest recorded at Ettumanur. The annual rainfall ranges from 2435.9 to 3755.2 mm and the average annual rainfall of the district is 3169.28 mm.
In general the district has wet type of climate and four seasons are seen in this district. The hot summer season from March to May, the South West monsoon season from June to September, the North East monsoon season from October to December and cool climate prevails during January and February. The maximum temperature ranges from 23.8°C to 26.0°C. The average annual maximum temperature is 29.8°C and the minimum temperature is 24.4°C. Tons of ordinary earth. It will be used for construction projects, roads for site leveling. Excavated earth will be transported by trucks / tippers to the end users.
4.9 POPULATION PROJECTION There are 8 employees proposed for the ordinary earth romoval operation. At the maximum extend the employees will be sourced from local areas. So there will not be any increase in population due to the project.
4.10 LAND USE PLANNING (BREAKUP ALONG WITH GREENBELT ETC.) The land for the proposed project is private own land with some rubber and native tree plantation and after the excavation work the site will be restored through native tree plantation.
4.11 ASSESSMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURE DEMAND (PHYSICAL AND SOCIAL) The mining site has approach road and well connected to the nearest public road / highway, which will help in commutation of workers and transportation of product. As such there is no major infrastructure facilities planned in this project and does not call for importance.

5.3 GREEN BELT Green belt shall be maintained all around the project site along the periphery. The programme of eco-restoration will be made and priority will be given to native fruit bearing & medicinal plants. Native species will be selected.

5.5 CONNECTIVITY (TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORTATION ROAD/ RAIL / METRO / WATER WAYS ETC.) The site is very well connected by road network to, district headquarter and to the nearest towns. The area is self-sufficient to cater the needs of the project.
5.6 DRINKING WATER MANAGEMENT (SOURCE AND SUPPLYOF WATER) The water required for the project will be sourced from the storm water reservoir and from nearest wells. The drinking water about 0.75 KLD will be sourced from the water jars / containers / tankers which will meet the National Standards for Drinking Water
5.7 SEWERAGE SYSTEM The domestic sewage generated from the site office will be diverted to the septic tank followed by soak pit
5.8 INDUSTRIAL WASTE MANAGEMENT There will be no industrial waste generation due to proposed project.
5.9 SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT There will be no solid waste generated from the site. The whole excavated product will be outsourced to the end users
5.10 POWER REQUIREMENT AND SUPPLY / SOURCE The power requirement for excavation purposes will be fulfilled by Diesel Engine.
