In 2020, amidst a volatile operating environment made worse by the COVID-19 pandemic and related lockdowns, the Group moved swiftly to embrace change and remain relevant to the market. By adjusting our strategies, reprioritising our resources, as well as capitalising on digitalisation and our position of strength, we set a new course for 2020 which included revising our sales target from RM1.6 billion to RM1 billion. These purposeful strategies paid off handsomely in that we were able to remain resilient and surpass the revised performance target for 2020. Today, with our strong balance sheet, robust cash fl ow, secure land bank, unbilled sales amounting to RM2.225 billion and a renewed commitment to upholding excellence, the LBS Group is well positioned to explore opportunities to strengthen and grow our business. LBS was established in 1961 when its founder, the late Dato’ Seri Lim Bock Seng, began undertaking construction projects in the township of Petaling Jaya. LBS subsequently went on to be listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad in January 2002. Today, LBS is a trusted developer and vendor of residential, industrial, and commercial properties. Whether it is their first home, an upgrade to spacious living, or a place for business – we create inspiring and delightful spaces that are motivated by our purchasers’ priorities and their lifestyle needs. Through our subsidiaries, we undertake design and construction, as well as trade in building materials, manufacture industrialised building system (”IBS”) precast products and provide civil engineering expertise. Our activities also encompass developing and managing motor racing circuits, general construction, hospitality, financing through money lending, turfing and landscaping, as well as car park management services and retail mall operations.     Sarah Kenderdine Biography Professor Sarah Kenderdine researches at the forefront of interactive and immersive experiences for galleries, libraries, archives and museums. In widely exhibited installation works, she has amalgamated cultural heritage with new media art practice, especially in the realms of interactive cinema, augmented reality and embodied narrative. She is considered a pioneer in the field digital heritage, digital humanities and data visualisation and is a regular keynote speaker at related forums internationally. In addition to her exhibition work she conceives and designs large-scale immersive visualization systems for public audiences, industry and researchers. For example, in 2016, she created EPICYLINDER, an interactive platform of 120 million pixels in 3D, three times higher resolution than any other visualisation platform in the world. Sarah was appointed Professor of Digital Museology at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland where she has built a new laboratory for experimental museology, exploring the convergence of aesthetic practice, visual analytics and cultural data. She is also Director and lead curator of EPFL’s new art/science museum, ArtLab located in a seminal building by Japanese architect Kengo Kumar (inaugurated in 2016). She serves on several advisory boards including the Royal Commission of Al Ula, Saudi Arabia, the ArtTech Foundation, Switzerland, the and, the Expanded Perception and Interaction Centre (EPICentre) of which she is the founding director, UNSW.     China's Belt and Road Initiative in the Global Trade, Investment and Finance Landscape │ 3 China’s Belt and Road Initiative in the global trade, investment and finance landscape China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) development strategy aims to build connectivity and co-operation across six main economic corridors encompassing China and: Mongolia and Russia; Eurasian countries; Central and West Asia; Pakistan; other countries of the Indian sub-continent; and Indochina. Asia needs USD 26 trillion in infrastructure investment to 2030 (Asian Development Bank, 2017), and China can certainly help to provide some of this. Its investments, by building infrastructure, have positive impacts on countries involved. Mutual benefit is a feature of the BRI which will also help to develop markets for China’s products in the long term and to alleviate industrial excess capacity in the short term. The BRI prioritises hardware (infrastructure) and funding first. This report explores and quantifies parts of the BRI strategy, the impact on other BRI-participating economies and some of the implications for OECD countries. It reproduces Chapter 2 from the 2018 edition of the OECD Business and Financial Outlook. 1. Introduction The world has a large infrastructure gap constraining trade, openness and future prosperity. Multilateral development banks (MDBs) are working hard to help close this gap. Being the third largest ocean in the world, it also encompasses many regional seas: the Arabian Sea, the Andaman Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the Gulf of Mannar, the Gulf of Oman, the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea. In addition, it is connected to the Pacific Ocean through the South China Sea and the East China Sea.1 Under such geographical context, it has been a hub of ancient civilizations, economic and cultural interactions. With the rise of Asia in the global geopolitics, the region has re-emerged as a vital maritime arena owing to growing trade, interdependence and economic growth. Encompassing vital sea lanes of communication that feed the world’s economies, the Indian Ocean is the world’s link between the East and the West. Around 80 per cent of the world’s sea-borne oil trade passes through the choke points of this ocean.2 Given its geo-economic importance, the region has become the focus of the emerging world order. The ‘Indo-Pacific’ has emerged as a critical strategic region, which has merged both the Indian and Pacific Ocean. This new geopolitical construct tends to integrate the two oceans seamlessly. The U.S. is rebalancing in the region by economic re- engagement and re-deployment of its naval and air forces.

In clearing the air over his controversial “front door” statement in regards to the rare earths refinery last week, Wong (left) said he regretted the “indirect way” in which he had spoke, as this had led to the misunderstanding. “The reason for the confusion and resulting disappointment was due to my poorly made ‘off-the-cuff’ statement, which gave the impression that I welcome Lynas. “Should Pakatan form the next government of Malaysia, the Temporary Operating License (TOL) for Lynas to operate must be revoked and stop work order must be issued immediately,” he said in a statement issued today. Wong explained that in order to then challenge the termination of the TOL, Lynas must go through the most stringent and transparent detailed environment impact assessment (DEIA) process, of which he was sure there would be little chance of success. “In my professional view, given my experience as an environmental consultant, Lynas will not be able to comply with the many requirements of the DEIA, including stringent public consultation process and especially on the disposal of the processed waste. “To put it simply, once the plant is shut down, there is no chance for it to reopen again” he said. The same, he added, applies to other projects which pose a hazard to the environment as well as to the health and livelihood of the people, such as the gold mining in Raub, Pengerang petrochemical plant and the construction of dams in East Malaysia.
