What’s coming up in the next few months February ?? Road Ride - refer to Website for date and details New Zealand Superbike Championship February Trials - already happened on the 2nd! This season aboard my Kiwi Rider Magazine SV650 backed by Suzuki New Zealand I am competing in the 2020 NZSBK Championship in the Pro Twin March 1st TRIALS HMCC Champs Round 2 Class. Can’t thank these people enough for this awesome opportunity to progress my March 6th HMCC AGM - Clubrooms Thursday from 7.30pm career. March 29th Road Ride -Centenary Re-creation, meeting at Hood St 9am I recently travelled down to the South Island for Round 1 & 2 of the series held at Mike Pero Motorsport Park in Christchurch and Levels International Motor April 2nd Club Night Thursday Raceway in Timaru. April 4th/5th The BIG ONE - HMCC Round of NZSBK at Taupo Round One held in Christchurch was a really solid weekend, riding to where I was comfortable as the goal was to finish the round off with a good amount of points Lots of volunteers required, please make it easier for the to my name. As this was my first National Pro Twin event we used this as a big committee by offering your services before you are asked! learning weekend, many things to get my head around. Practice complete feeling reasonably happy with the setup, we headed into race Then, even BIGGER than BIG!!! day not really sure what to expect. EASTER WEEKEND- CENTENARY! Qualifying I had a goal set to be on the front row and we achieved that with a solid The load in for the show at the Classics Museum starts Thursday 9th lap to put me 4th on the grid. Race One started with a bit of drama with one rider going down and another The Show opens Saturday 11th having bike issues in front of me on the first lap. That slotted me into second where I hunted down the leader but decided at half race distance I didn’t quite The Centenary Dinner happens also on the 11th have the confidence in the bike to stick with him. I settled for a solid 2nd place to Various other events are happening over the weekend too start off my NZSBK Pro Twin campaign which I could not be happier with! Race Two got off to a cracker start pulling the holeshot and leading my first laps Again, we will be looking for plenty of help from ordinary club members at of the Pro Twins. I got shuffled back to third on the heels of the leaders but again various times, please make yourself available. didn’t quite have the pace to stick with them. Another podium finishing 3rd!

‑4- ‑5- The View from the Front - continued New Zealand Grand Prix / Race Three another holeshot and held the lead for about 3 laps then got I pushed back to second. Working my ass off I put my head down and kept within a second up until the last couple laps where I had a big enough buffer behind me to roll off and just bring her home for another podium in 2nd! For the weekend I didn’t expect much coming in and to finish every race on the podium is absolutely mega for me! Overall I wrapped up Round 1 with a 3rd, 5 Points covering the top 3 of us and 2nd in the New Zealand Grand Prix! Round 2 held in Timaru was a mixed bag of emotions. Heading in feeling really positive with a great team behind me this weekend. Starting with a test day on Wednesday to get my head around the track and then started to feel out the bike for where we need to work on setup come Friday test day. Friday test day was really positive finding a really comfortable setup throughout the day getting to grips with the bike more and more. Going into race day feeling prepared and ready to rumble. Qualifying I put in one heater lap straight off the bat which put me 2nd on the grid! Race one I pulled the holeshot and led a few laps then slotted in behind the leader and waited for my opponent to pounce. On the last lap I made the move and came across the line to take my first NZSBK Championship ProTwins Win! Jordan Burley 600 Supersport Levels Race two I played the same tactic letting him set the pace working out where and ABOVE: when I had to make my move. With two laps to go I took the lead and held off to take another Win! BELOW: Jacob Stroud leading 300 Supersport Levels Race three did not go to plan at all. I tried to pull a lead from the get go as I felt I had the speed to make a run for it. After making a few mistakes I got out of rhythm and started to push to make up a bit of a buffer again. With tyres going off my inexperience got the best me and ended up throwing it down the road at the hairpin for a DNF in the final race. Overall was a really positive weekend knowing I have the pace to stick it out with the top boys and win races. I have now learnt from my mistake and we can only build from here. For the weekend I still finished 3rd Overall and holding down 3rd in the Championship. Not the end of the world. Time to put in the work and come back faster and stronger! Bring on Hampton Downs! Big thanks to Jared Love and the old man for coming down and being my spanner men for the weekends! Thanks to Team Rees and Blake Ross Racing for making it such a fun weekend! Wicked bunch of people! Massive thank you to Uncle Dennis for lending us his ute for the South Island trip Thanks to all my sponsors who make it all possible: Kiwi Rider, Suzuki New Zealand, NTB Racing, Pirelli, Crown Kiwi Enterprises, Bell Helmets, Alpinestar, Race Supplies, BRM Dyno Paeroa, F1 Engineering, Kea Trailers, Eurobike New Zealand, BikesportNZ, Garth May Farm Bike Servicing, Mahoe Land Company. and thank you Zac for this comprehensive report - Ed ‑6- ‑7- More Pics from Levels

The club , , , ,and with has a few Steve Parker positions pulling to fill as back from our current Treasury, Secretary and some of the Newsletter roles he has Editor is traditionally relocating to done can Australia in be spread May . . . around better!

Club Secretary Believe it or not, despite having the word “Secretary” in the title, this is not a role restricted to the female of the species …. this is an important role, keeping the communication channels open between the members, the committee, and the organisations we deal with. Time wise shouldn’t be too onerous, an hour or so here and there, and best ABOVE: Dillon Telford in the 600 Supersport Levels that you are available for all committee meetings – there is only one a month. Membership Secretary BELOW: Hamish Fox during 300 Supersport Levels Holder of the membership Book, and recorder of members. You will be someone who attends most club nights, and is computer savvy enough to keep an eye on incoming emails and payments, to enable cards to be posted asap, as often they are time critical for members wishing to compete. Newsletter Editor You’ll need to attend committee meetings, and assemble and format the magazine over the weekend following. You know what the newsletter looks like – we format it using Adobe InDesign, which I can train you in, if you are up for it. Needs a few hours commitment in the week between committee meeting and club night. Usually you will collect mag from printers, and post the ones requiring posting, although this part can be assigned to another person if it doesn’t fit your schedule. Treasurer Ensures all income is accounted for, and banked, and all bills are paid on time. Maintain accurate records in Xero accounting system, provide monthly updates to committee, and prepare End of Year Balance sheet in February. Must be able to attend committee meetings. Property Manager Someone to keep an eye on building maintenance issues, and make sure that maintenance is done in a timely manner. This can be by personal skill, organizing working bees of club members, or organising professional services as appropriate. You will need to specify and obtain quotes for professional services, and obtain council permits if required. ‑8- ‑9- - Total Total Total Total Total

‑12- ‑13- , and Hugh Anderson to become MotoGP™ Legends Spaniard, Italian and New Zealander set for induction into the Hall of Fame in 2020

An initial presentation was made to Hugh at the Classic Festival on Saturday 1st February. He will receive a full presentation at the Australian Moto GP at Phillip Island in October.

Hugh Anderson will be the final inductee in 2020, alongside Jorge Lorenzo and Max Biaggi. Anderson made his first GP appearances in the 500cc and 350cc classes in 1960, taking a podium in the latter. Two years later he added the 125cc and 50cc classes to his resume, becoming a race winner in both. That set his course and for 100th Anniversary 1963 the New Zealander took on the 125cc and 50cc World Championships in earnest, taking the crown in each class. He retained the 50cc crown the following year to make it back-to-back titles and was third in the 125cc title fight, reversing that Celebrations in 1965 as he regained the 125cc crown and was third in the 50cc class. Anderson retired in 1966 after taking an impressive 25 Grand Prix wins and four titles in just six years. Saturday April 11th 2020 Hugh Anderson: “How I felt when receiving the news? At first, apprehension: do my relatively modest achievements warrant this honour? Will I, can I, do justice to this invitation? Some hours later I felt a feelgood sensation envelope me. A gratification that after all this time the modern world has not forgotten the past and the riders of a very much different era still have some value. A question of the history of our sport being recognised at the highest level. Thank you.” Lorenzo, Biaggi and Anderson now join a long list of greats that have been made MotoGP™ Legends that includes , , , , , , , , Angel Nieto, , , , , , , , , , , , , Alex Crivillé, , , , , , Stefan Dörflinger, Jorge Martinez and the late, great . ‑14- ‑15- Hamilton MCC Trials calendar 2020 CENTENARY UPDATE JAN NORTHERN TRIALS CALENDAR 2019 Ver2 Things are rolling along nicely, with only a mild feeling of panic we are missing Date Event Venue Event Manager January 5 something! 12 VENUE 19 26 BBM Rd1 and Franklin Cup Air cooled Auckland Ray/Steve Venue and hire items are well sorted, but we are still waiting on confirmation of the February 2 HMCC Champs Rd1 Hamilton Colin/Steve Tiger Moth fly-in.
