This sort of scene can often be cheesy or stupid; this ending is selfless and valiant- two things this doctor was not initially known for. Constance, in her first released appearance, is an empathetic companion who rounds the occasionally bombastic Sixth Doctor nicely. The audio drama consists of four one-hour episodes, each by a different author and each pairing the Doctor with a different companion and taking place at a different point in his life, but all unified by the presence of the villainous Valeyard , a potential future version of the Doctor introduced in Baker's last television serial, The Trial of a Time Lord. So this, to me, is the definitive ending to the Sixth Doctor's adventures. Charlie, Flip, Jago, Litefoot and Mel also good in their stories, and while at least one surprise villain in there for me, the Valeyard was a good menace throughout. This story features both the and the Valeyard. The companion here is Constance, who actually made her 'debut' a few weeks later in Criss-Cross. The first story by Simon and Paul was my favourite. The four of them see a train very similar to the one they left, to the point of having on board Tim's travelling companions, who leads them to the conclusion they must have found another train, of a similar model. So I thought that was a nice twist. Fun times. This story begins rather light-heartedly, despite featuring werewolves, but steadily grows darker and more complex as it goes on.
