It was also notable for introducing the companion Constance Clarke and seeing the final encounter between the Sixth Doctor and the Valeyard. The anthology was comprised of four separate stories interspersed throughout different phases of the Sixth Doctor's lifetime, each seeing him The Sixth Doctor: The Last Adventure with a The Sixth Doctor: The Last Adventure companion, and working progressively further into his life until reaching his final story. The stories can be viewed as one large arc to see how the pieces of the Valeyard's plot all fit together, or viewed independently at the corresponding points of the Sixth Doctor's life in the timeline of his audios and slowly The Sixth Doctor: The Last Adventure up to a grand denouement. Image Courtesy Big Finish Productions. But, as you can likely guess from the title, it also reveals his long-overdue regeneration story, too. Especially The Sixth Doctor: The Last Adventure we saw his Doctor regenerate. While he was initially invited back for the first serial of the season, Baker declined, asking if he could be given just one more season in full instead. He never heard back from the BBCand the crucial regeneration scene was done without him. Here are a few reasons why. Instead, it features four stories set across his lifetime, with different companions featured in each episode. But it also gives us a fantastic way of celebrating the Sixth Doctor on audio. Particularly in the realm of audio: after all, three of the four companions featured in this box set were exclusive to Big Finish. While his Doctor was enjoyable to watch The Sixth Doctor: The Last Adventure TV, Colin Baker truly got the era he deserved thanks to Big Finish, getting so much rich character development across so many stories. It took over The Sixth Doctor: The Last Adventure years for Big Finish to convince him to do the regeneration story, but it was definitely worth the wait. The Sixth Doctor: The Last Adventure - Wikipedia Within the narrative of the series, the Doctorits principal character, is a time-travelling alien known as a Time Lord The Sixth Doctor: The Last Adventure, whose biological characteristics allow him to regenerate into a new form to circumvent The Sixth Doctor: The Last Adventure otherwise deadly experience; the device has been used to allow for a change The Sixth Doctor: The Last Adventure lead actor every few years in the production of the televised series. The audio drama consists of four one-hour episodes, each by a different author and each pairing the Doctor with a different companion and taking place at a different point in his life, but all unified by the presence of the villainous Valeyarda potential future version of the Doctor introduced in Baker's last television serial, The Trial of a Time Lord. The final part The Brink of Death explains that the Sixth Doctor dies due to the radiation of the planet Lakertya as part of his sacrifice in order to stop the Valeyard from taking over existence. The Doctor and his new companion Constance investigate a dimensional nexus made out of a train station with ever-increasing platforms and people who appear multiple times, who are all dead. The Doctor and Charley investigate a village populated by inverted werewolves- peaceful in their wolf states and ruthless Neanderthal-esque figures in their human states- and by scientists who attempt to normalize them. The Valeyard crosses paths with the Doctor's old friends Henry Jago and Professor Litefoot in Victorian London, where he stages a play that seems to recall the Doctor's previous regenerations.
