Little Waltham via Minnow End, , Walthambury and Chatham Hall

Distance: 4.65 Miles ​ Ascent: 247 Feet ​ Time: 1:51 Hours ​ Start Point: TL 709 128 ​

Parking is in the Brook Hill car park.

Walking Directions As you leave the car park turn left to join Brook Hill. Cross and continue ahead until you reach the end of the housing. Turn right and follow the path across towards the trees ahead. When you reach the doggy waste bin turn left and then immediately right to join a gravel driveway. After 15 metres turn left to cross a footbridge and follow the enclosed footpath ahead until you reach a T-junction of paths. Turn right to cross the bridge and then turn right.

When you see a road ahead, bear right and continue along the enclosed footpath. When you reach the end of the fence, turn right and follow the path out onto a gravel driveway. Continue ahead before crossing The Street. Turn left and then right after 29-31 onto another footpath. Follow this ahead to emerge onto the B1008 Main Road. Cross this to pick up the footpath opposite. Continue straight ahead aiming left of the pillbox. Once at the field boundary aim for the large cream house ahead to emerge onto the Road where you turn right.

Just after passing Little Bakers in your left, cross and turn diagonally left onto another footpath. Cross the footbridge ahead and then immediately right to keep to the right hand field boundary. When you reach the footpath sign ahead, turn right to keep to the left hand field boundary. This path turns left and then right by a footbridge. Now continue ahead before reaching some trees ahead. Turn left here followed by an immediate right to cross a footbridge.

Now continue ahead keeping to the left hand field boundary before emerging onto South Street. Cross and turn left here and continue ahead to reach the end of the housing. Now turn right onto another footpath and keep to the right hand field boundary before emerging onto Barrack Lane. Turn left here and when you reach the T-junction ahead turn right onto Bury Lane. Follow this gently downhill. When you reach the Ford at the bottom, bear right and cross Walthambury Brook using the footbridge.

Continue ahead for 50 metres before turning right onto the Way where you keep to the left hand field boundary. When you reach the footpath sign ahead turn left and keep to the left hand field boundary before emerging onto Main Road. Cross and enter the Langleys estate by the gatehouse. Now continue straight ahead to pass the house that is on the right. Continue ahead to cross the River Chelmer by the bridge and weir and then bear right. Stay on the tarmac path to exit the estate by Chatham Hall.

Turn right and follow Chatham Hall Lane to the end where you cross the B1008 Main Road (TAKE CARE). About 15 metres to the right of the road signs there is a gap in the trees. Enter ​ this to emerge from the trees onto The Street. Cross and turn right to pass The While Hart P.H. before turning left onto Brook Hill. When you reach the road junction ahead, turn left to enter the recreation ground. Keep to the right hand boundary before turning right by the tennis courts. Keeping these on your left continue ahead to return to the car park.
