STRI have established an Ecology Research Unit in response to the growing need for research into areas where sports and amenity turf science and golf in particular overlap with ecological interests. The new unit will form part of the Turfgrass Biology and Environmental Science Division led by Dr Andy Newell. STRI's senior Ecologist, Bob Taylor will act as consultant and a member of the cultivar research team, Jonathan Hart-Wood, will be responsible for the day to day run- ning of the unit as Research Co- ordinator.
