He has the long, lean elegance of a classic Thoroughbred, reminiscent of his sire Colonel John and second damsire, Canadian Champion With Approval, yet Airoforce received precocious speed from his damsire Cuvee. Airoforce was victorious at distances ranging between 6 1/2-furlongs and 1 1/16-miles. Although he competed mainly on turf, Airoforce won a key stake over dirt. His immediate pedigree has dirt and turf attributes. A magnificent looking $350,00 OBS April sales purchase campaigned by John Oxley, Airoforce flashed precociousness and speed in his debut, drawing away to win a six-furlong turf sprint by 3 1/4-lengths in a sharp 1:10.34, just a second off the Kentucky Downs track record. Airoforce dominated the Dixiana Bourbon Stakes (G3) by 2 1/2-lengths over a full field of fourteen over the Keeneland turf, including Camelot Kitten, Surgical Strike. Airoforce faced a full field of high-class youngsters as the favorite in the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1). and missed the victory by a neck, after racing in traffic and being distracted in the stretch. He defeated Highland Sky, Dressed in Hermes, and Camelot Kitten, along with international runners. Airoforce showed his versatility over a sloppy track capturing the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2) by 1 3/4 lengths. He bested Gun Runner, Mor Spirit, and Mo Tom. The Gray colt’s efforts earned him 120 on the 2015 Experimental Free Handicap, higher than Gun Runner, Mohaymen, and Exaggerator. As a 3-year-old, Airoforce placed in the Penn Mile Stakes (G3) after a troubled beginning, and just missed by a nose in the prestigious National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes (G2) at Saratoga. http://www.ironmaidensthoroughbreds.com ♦ 1 ♦ [email protected] ♦ 772-475-9798 IRON MAIDENS THOROUGHBREDS Pedigree Consultant AIROFORCE 2019 STALLION MATING ANALYSIS SIRE The WinStar homebred Colonel John (Tiznow – Sweet Damsel, by Turkoman) was capable from seven furlongs to 1 1/4-miles over dirt, turf, and synthetics. He retired as a 4-year-old with a record of 15-6-3-1 ($1,779,012). The son of champion sire Tiznow flashed precocity as a 2-year-old, winning or placing in all four starts, including a strong second place in the CashCall Futurity (G1), now known as the Los Alamitos Futurity. At three, Colonel John captured the Sham Stakes (G3) and Santa Anita Derby (G1), before finishing a troubled sixth after having to steady in the 2008 Kentucky Derby (G1). Colonel John proved himself at the classic distance of 1 1/4- miles in the Travers Stakes (G1). The following year, Colonel John showed his adaptability with a victory in the one mile Wickerr Stakes over the Del Mar turf. After racing in mid-pack and having to go wide in the Goodwood Stakes (G1) over Polytrack, Colonel John placed second by a neck. DISTAFF LINE Chocolate Pop (Cuvee – White Chocolate, by With Approval) won or placed in four of six starts as a dirt sprinter, and retired with a 6-1-3-0 ($66,757) record, as the highest earner and most accomplished foal out White Chocolate (With Approval), an allowance class turf miler. Chocolate Pop placed second by narrow margins in the Love Affair Stakes and Busanda Stakes. Chocolate Pop’s half-sister Jacolatt (Twining) is also a stakes-placed dirt sprinter. Airoforce’s second dam White Chocolate is a half-sister to two stakes-winning full sisters by Sweetsouthernsaint (Saint Ballado, Halo line); Saint Knows, a listed winning turf sprinter and the most accomplished in the immediate family, and Her Sweet Saint, a multiple stakes-winning dirt sprinter. Cuvee (Carson City - Christmas Star, by Star de Naskra) won or placed in six of seven starts as a 2-year-old from 4 1/2-furlongs to a mile. After capturing his debut by 6 1/4-lengths, Cuvee was equally impressive in the 5 1/2-furlong Kentucky Breeders' Cup Stakes (G3), dazzling by 8 1/4-lengths. After placing a troubled third in the Bashford Manor (G3), Cuvee retuned to his spectacular ways, dominating the Saratoga Special (G2) by 7 1/2-lengths and defeating Pomeroy, Limehouse and El Prado. He stalked the pace four-wide for five furlongs and tired to twelfth place. Cuvee returned as a 3-year-old to place in the listed Matt Winn Stakes and Kentucky Cup Sprint (G3) but finished out of the money after a rough trip in the 2004 Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1). After four years at stud, Cuvee was relocated to Turkey. His fifth-generation shows a cross of In Reality through Airoforce’s sire tail line, and through his third damsire, Known Fact. There is also a cross of Raise a Native through Alydar, the sire of Turkoman, and Mr. Prospector, the tail sire of Cuvee. The sixth-generation includes a cross of The Axe through Airoforce’s sire tail line and in the bottom through Al Hattab, Airoforce’s fourth damsire. Northern Dancer is present in four positions, three through Colonel John, (Lyphard, Nice Dancer, One For All) and on Airoforce’s distaff side through Cool Mood, the second dam of With Approval. The sixth-generation also shows the half-siblings On and On, the damsire of Alydar through Colonel John’s pedigree and Tim Tam, the damsire of Known Fact, Airoforce’s third damsire. Inbreeding to Renes de Course has shown notable success. Airoforce has 13 Renes throughout his pedigree, with My Dear Girl, the dam of In Reality, and Raise You, Raise a Native’s dam, appearing four times. Other Key Names in the pedigree include Caro, Buckpasser, and Blushing Groom, on the distaff side, and Seattle Slew and Damascus on the sire side.     Eoin Harty in Profile By ED GOLDEN Turf Writer There was always an air of levity at Bob Baffert’s barn when Eoin Harty worked there. Not that the game they played wasn’t serious. It was. Preparing 1,000-pound equine athletes with spindly legs to perform at their peak on the world’s stage is not a job for anyone in short pants. During the seven years Harty was Baffert’s assistant, they won the Kentucky Derby twice–with Silver Charm in 1997 and Real Quiet in 1998–and missed by a heart-breaking nose with Cavonnier in 1996. But in between the regimented tedium, there was always time for a good hoot. Fact is, it was and still is part of Baffert’s DNA. “He’s got a sense of humor,” Baffert said of Harty. “He has a good disposition and we liked to have a lot of fun, so he fit in well.” But work came first, and Harty had his priorities in order. His foundation was ingrained. Lean and sinewy with chiseled features, Harty hails from a family of Irish horsemen that extends back at least five generations. His grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather were trainers in their native Ireland.
