Narrator: Listening Test Interview with a Westerner

Section 1

Maggie and Simon work for a Hong Kong tourist company. Maggie went to England to interview some people to find out what they know about Hong Kong. You will hear Maggie play some of the interviews to Simon.

The recording will be played twice. Do as much as you can the first time and answer all the questions the second time.

{Maggie: As you know Simon, I was in London last week researching what people there know about Hong Kong. I interviewed people in the street and asked them to tell me what they knew and what they liked about Hong Kong. It’s very interesting. I have them all on MP3. Listen to this first person I interviewed. [a click]

Man: Well, I love Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan, the film stars. I think Jackie Chan is my favourite. I have also heard of Tony Leung Chiu-wai. He is in some popular Hong Kong movies but he is no match for Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan, although Tony is great. I guess he is good at playing other roles.

Hmmm… Although Jackie Chan is my personal favourite nowadays, I do believe that nobody in the world can match Bruce Lee – he is the original. A lot of stars try to copy him, like Donnie Yan and Jet Li. I think that even in a hundred years’ time Bruce Lee will… [fade out]}
