This annual study by GLAAD and our partners at The Harris Poll, which measures Americans' attitudes towards the LGBTQ community, shows that while comfort levels may be rising, more than half of Southerners believe their peers remain uncomfortable around LGBTQ people in various day-to-day situations, such as seeing a same-sex couple holding hands or learning a family member is LGBTQ.

We have 6 computers and a printer, and can also provide one-on-one instruction and tutoring, if you want help learning how to use a new skill or program. Care Coordination – assessment, life skill coaching and referral service for LGBTQ youth age 13-17. Alina, our Care Coordinator, will help you with schoolwork, applying for college & scholarships, preparing resumes, getting ready for a job interview, and if you enroll in the program, monthly bus cards. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, only. 6-8PM South Florida LGBTQ Youth Chorale – is a unique chorale experience for LGBTQ youth age 13-20. Come sing with us, learn about music and work with top notch conductors and voice coaches to improve your skills – all in an LGBTQ-affirming environment. This group will meet on Tuesdays 7PM at the Coral Gable Congregational Church. Transportation to and from Douglas Metrorail station will be provided. Rehearsals begins Tue, Oct 6, 2009. Exploring – is a unique Career Exploration and mentoring program for LGBTQ youth age 14-20. Groups of 6-12 Explorers (youth) work closely with 4-6 Post Advisors (adult volunteers, experts in the career field the post is exploring) to develop practical real life skills in the career area the Post has chosen. They work on community projects, fundraising, plan outings and events. Post Advisors function as mentors and help the youth with resources and problem solving. Explorer Post are cohesive units, where friends work together to achieve common goals.

The company did not disband until 1975. Miami was the site of the United States Air Force's largest training base during the years of World War II, bringing many young men and women to the area. After the war some returned as visitors and others to become residents as southern Florida grew in popularity as a tourist destination. In the post-war period Miami had a lively gay bar scene, catering to both locals and visitors. Given the increasing importance of tourism, city officials found it prudent to avoid harassing people who were spending their vacation dollars in the area.
