Derby’s Diary of Bridport, Vt. (Extracts) MSA 729:08

Note: This diary contains many vital records and other personal notes, with dates ranging from 1809 through 1858. Interspersed are religious sayings, hymns and poems. No attempt has been made to transcribe all of them; however, a few that occur on pages where deaths and other events are recorded have been copied. For the most part, only items relating to individuals, events and families have been extracted, with punctuation added at times for clarity. Pages in the diary are not numbered; however, the following extracts are given page numbers, to give an idea of where in the actual diary such information appears. At the end of the transcriptions there is an every name index. The index includes names as spelled in the diary, as well as spelling-corrected names by the extractor.
